I have just come across www.cheekydvd.com
It is a dvd rental service offering R18 dvd's for rental in the UK. I thought that the distribution of R18 by mail was illegal.
Does anyone know if this service is either legal or genuine? The website looks pretty slick but I wonder if it is a scam?
If it is legal and above board I bet it will be popular.

Re: UK DVD rental site
They do appear to be legit but, in common with everyone else, are confused about the legal status.
Here's an extract from a posting made to the forum on :

I'm reading about companies being challenged by trading standards for supplying R18 by mail-order, yet I have a license from a UK local authority that "allows the distribution of R18 material by mail order".
So am I acting illegally by doing so? Who knows...
I did call Trading Standards and ask, to which they said "No, you can't do it". I said, "But I have a license to do it by mail order." They replied "No, you haven't.". I faxed it to them. Now, they won't talk to us.

Has anyone actually used this website to rent DVD's?
It sounds very good, but as Peter said, who knows what the legal situation is?
