condom poll?

how about starting a poll for the viewers, stars and producers,
to get a uk perspective on this, ather than the bitching that
seems to have kicked off, after recent hiv scare.

viewers- would you buy more / less videos etc, knowing
beforehand the actors ARE doing 'safe sex' - ie, wearing condoms?
or would you seek out the bareback stuff instead?

stars- do you insist on protection, or avoid work / scenes that would
need you without it?
do you think current testing setup is enough / not enough / too much?

producers- would you offer workers condoms. or pay less if they used
them, or pay more for bareback??

i suppose its al labout choice, though IF i was in the business,
i would want it to be as safe as possible... to prolong the career,
and my own health...

Well I am a producer and performer and I certainly don't envisage switching to condoms.

HOWEVER until the current situation is sorted out and we have a convincing system in place for testing I will not be shooting any penetration scenes.

As a viewer and fan (and I am still a fan) I have to say I do not watch condom movies. I destroys the whole wreckless fantasy element of porn and I think many viewers share that opinion.

I agree with you on this one Dive. But if you are going to work, check the passports of those you are working with and don't work with anyone who has left the states/Brazil/South Africa (any high risk area) within the last 3 months, even if you are working with condoms. They aren't 100% fool proof and would you want to work with someone who could possibly have the virus? Would you feel 100% safe because of that one tiny piece of latex? If the states have closed their industry for 2 months then we should close ranks here and protect our industry too.

I agree with you Kane as long as the action is the same thats all that matters, weve been going 6 years with never no health scares so condoms do give peace of mind.
Six months down the line i bet a lot of the stars will carry on wearing them as they do now.

Speaking as a viewer, I prefer seeing sex without condoms. I think thats to do with the fantasy aspect of sex, I dont imagine myself fucking an attracive woman with a piece of rubber over my dick. I would buy less videos if the industry switched to condom only, I would most likely buy vintage porn/foreign porn, there is plenty of competition.

I think that Darrens HIV infection has been blown out of proportion. There are many debates on here at the moment about condom use Vs non condom use generally. I dont think it is necessary to change things. What is necessary is a change in testing policy towards porn stars working abroad. I would suggest a policy where all UK actors working abroad must pass at least two HIV tests befor they can work again. This policy if used in the USA would have prevented Darren from infecting other actors. I feel that Darren was crazy to go to Brazil for an unprotected shoot, I read on AVN that 94% of all sex workers in Brazil have HIV, It was this madness, combined with inadequate quarantine measures that caused the problem.

I think its a bit funny that people don't imagine fucking an attractive woman without a condom - and yet if they were to actually have a prospect of sex with said attractive woman it's highly unlikely she'd let their dicks anywhere near her without one lol.

Maybe we should try living in the real world instead of our fantasies for once - in the real world people people need to take precautions against STD's including HIV (but also many others). Condoms are the best protection so far. Regular testing in the porn industry is of course also highly effective as long as rigorously adhered to but in everyday sexual encounters there is no substitute for using condoms outside of a monogamous relatonship at least.
