It has already been stated in this thread, that some guys & girls do escorting while doing porn.
But if it is not these people who are the problem, then who are the problem ?

Do 3 out of 4 escorts provide 'bare back' services for a little extra?

Re: STI's & Rumours
ive never met a performer who has done bare back escorting, the problem i think is like i said b4 when people go out to night clubs or swinging clubs and fuck some1 there then go on a shoot the next day, or in some cases suspect they have something and carry on working until there due 4 another test
i really dont think escortings the problem it much safer

You've probably met a few performers who do bare back escorting Karlie.......they've just not told you that's all.

Re: STI's & Rumours
May i congratulate Karlie for being so painfully honest about her her own problems and the subject in general.
I cannot beleive Karlie has been so unlucky and this must be a common problem with many other models, maybe not as honest as Karlie.
With many models now working in Europe and the US does anyone know if the problem is as bad or even worse over there?
Also with the influx of so many East European models now coming over to Uk are their certs equivalent to the ones issued in the UK or do they have to be tested over here.

My 10p (and some lol!)...
I started out in this industry from escorting, if it hadn?t been for this introduction into the adult world then I would not be where I am today and if it hadn?t been for the nature of the work then I would not be the performer I am either.
On that note I know that I am grateful for the escorting industry and I know that there are many other performers who have the same story although some of the girls and boys would rather steer clear of admitting it, and rightly so considering the huge shadow of stigma this country and in particular the uk adult industry hangs above it.
I do not actively seek escorting work anymore and to be honest I do not have the time nor effort for it. Put it this way, if you had the luxury of choice what would you pick? Yeah, you guessed it... hot porn girls win every time!
However, I strongly do not believe that those girls or boys who do escort in the conventional sense (meaning covered/protected sex) are any more of a risk to the industry than anybody else engaging in safe sex outside of work. People do have their own sex lives away from the cameras oh and shock horror, pornstars like sex? eh?
Ok those who are unconventional are just twats! Not only to themselves and their own health but also sickeningly so towards every single stupid person unfortunate enough to come into contact with them. There is a dark side to everything though and that is reality.
So to answer Snakes question,

My opinion is that the problem lies with morals, honesty, openness and communication. The infections themselves are un-avoidable it is the spread that we need to address. I am tested almost fortnightly due to the requirements of the companies I work for and yes this is helping to reduce the risks. However I have not missed the recent bouts either and this is just bad luck. Laws of probability will tell you that the more work you have the more risk you take, do not talk to me about how you have an impeccable sexual history when you have only made one film or you do not have the records to prove it? You pay good money for those certs why wouldn?t you keep them?
The industry revolves around unprotected sex, simple. The occupational hazards are clear and present. No disrespect to some of the fringe performers and fans posting on this thread but we as performers know this, it is our job after all. When I step on set I have to know that when I perform I am at risk of infection. I cannot cast blame or point fingers it is just a fact that the industry faces. I don?t not believe that I am immune to these risks.
However I do believe in my own moral strength and respect for fellow performers. Also the importance of honesty and communication is paramount in our line of work.
I actually carry my whole sexual health history in a folder with me to every single set. If someone wants to see it or know anything about me, past and present then it is there freely and openly. There are no 'gaps' in my certs and nothing hidden. I am not too proud to say yes last month I had this or that month I had that. I will not be there if I am not healthy to work and the records show it all. Good, bad and dischargingly ugly! This is what I call honesty and openness and I am dubious of anyone who is not happy for me to know their sexual history should I ask for it.
I will work until I am worried about my health, have symptoms or have been contacted by someone that I have had 1st or 2nd generation contact with and has tested positive. This is the grey area for some performers, what do you do if the girl calls you and says she worked with john, who worked with mary, who worked with richard, who worked with Jane, who worked with sam, who may have a dose? No until I have symptoms or that girl or one away has actually tested positive I do still very cautiously work. The industry would completely shut down if we all reacted like this. But the minute it is a problem then get retested!
Inform everybody you have had contact with and then behave yourself whilst you take your meds. Meaning do not be a fool and continue working on your test, do not think you are a doctor and use your stock pile of anti-biotics and then think you are safe to work, just get seen and get the meds. So you cancel people? So you loose money? Temptations should not overcome your own morals. I remember the very first time I caught something and I came out and told everyone, almost the whole damn industry! Who I have worked with and who I was due to work with, not a lot of people were very happy about that. Sorry I lost work and you lost work but that is the way I am and I will not be faulted for it although I admit these days I do only tell the people involved and then it is up to them to pass on the message to relevant people. This is what I call morals and communication.
I do not think that there will ever be an answer to eradicating this risk but I feel that if more effort was made to be open, honest and communicated the problem at the very first opportunity then it would be a whole lot better for our health as a whole and vastly reduce the spread and possibility of re-infection.
I do have a suggestion that I am sure others must have thought of too with regards to the large outbreaks is that the UKAP or BAIHA could order a industry wide shut down. When the spread of infection is so wide as it has been with the latest bout and even to the point of some performers returning to work and being re-infected surely it makes sense to order a industry wide test date. Everyone can be medicated and I know that both the private clinics and NHS can state this on the cert. Then stop filming until the clear date so we can all continue to work with confidence and knowledge that all performers tested from this date have been cleared.
Sorry my post is a bit of an epic. Its just my thoughts really, lets just all be a bit educated about the facts.

Re: STI's & Rumours
Sam... Valid point, I do not know how many escorts do provide a bareback service for sure. It may sound nieve, but I would certainly hope it was no-one I considered to be with half a brain, as it just seems so stupid, I can't comprehend it.
As for admiting things, and the same few names cropping up, some people who I believe a shady, I don't feel sorry for, however, some people, who I believe to be responsible and honest, are getting a bad name for themselves because they keep admiting they've a problem... I've been lucky to fail only 1 test, however, in there have been many cases where I've thought it possible I've caught something, and made myself unavailable for bookings.
