One thing that people still don't seem to understand is that a full cert does not mean you are "100% clean%", its OK for bacterial diseases like gonorahea, but for viral infections, the test cannot detect for definate until your body creates some antibodies.
In the case of HIV they guess 3 months incubation, but in some people it could be more or less.
I always thought the whole episode about the tests changed from 3 months to 1 month was hysteria generated by the Americans, where as usual the HIV carrier had taken a trip to Brazil on a gay jaunt. The problem was everyone felt safer with a shorter test and for most STD's it's a great idea, but for HIV and HepB you could still have a clear test and yet still be simply "cooking" the disease.
In America during their scare, after all their big mouth talk about DNA testing, in the end they had to wait 3 months, just like us, to be really sure they were clear. Only valid of course if they hadn't shagged anyone else in the meantime! So in other words as soon as you shag some one "you go back to go" and start again for another 3 months.
I tend to have a test before a batch of performances and then a test immediately after and so on.
But i do believe that some kind of Log book should be created where performers have a test after so many scenes, say 6 for example. There are some studs who might do 10 scenes a week, so maybe 30-40 a month ie the duration of his test, can you imagine the havoc one of these people could create if they contracted something at the very beginning of the month?
Its interesting that in this forum, blame is always laid at the door of the girls, but in fact a very busy stud is far, far more like to propogate a disease.
The only time a test is worth the paper its written on is between leaving the hospital and the first sexual contact, after that its worth nothing.
Unfortunately this is a risky business, so is being a cop or a soldier, lets just assess the risks, be a little careful and just get on with it.

LOG BOOK
Thge Log Book is an exceelent idea... this would create a sort of system similar to what AIM provides. Of course - introducing a log book system could be as simple and straightforward as every performer here saying "Right, lets do just that - lets all start, from today making a diary of who we worked with and when)... it would rely very much on trust, but it would help a) to POSSIBLY identify the source of infection - but more importantly, it would allow an individula to alert past partners of a problem.
A performer could ask to see the log book of their co-star - like I said - you're taking a lot on trust- there's the likelihood of ommitting to make entries etc... The idea has merit.
Such a measure might also make the irresponsible ones think twice... the log book system could allow them to be identified as the source of an infection and hence they might start behaving a little more responsibly.
It's a self policing measure - but a good one...

Please don't risk jeopardising this very interesting thread by making it obvious through implication who you're referring to.
So far the FAQ restrictions on naming and shaming have been impeccably observed by yourself and everyone else contributing.
For those of you who don't know this particular rule, please read FAQ 3.9

Re: I'd hazard a guess at a flaw in your thinking...
Yeah but how do you do that? Don't you think that given a choice of studs to work with a model would instinctively choose the well oiled georgous, handsome clean looking stud over the lank spotty first timer, who's maybe a bit smelly.
But of course the handsome stud would be getting much more work and therefore present a higher risk, he would also be more likely to be up his own arse and therefore pulling at clubs and shagging without protection.
No unfortunately girls, simply ask the stud how many scenes or people he's shagged since his test, and then make your decision.
It's an impossible call to make isnt it?

Of course it is an impossible call!!!
Which is precisely why I say that a universal standard should apply... BUT WHEREVER YOU MAKE THAT STANDARD - 7 DAYS, 14 DAYS, 3 MONTHS... all it does is halt the spread faster - it doesn't prevent it's introduction.
And who decides which performers fall into the "regular" category... and who says that "if" they test positive for something they don't pull out the previous tests and try to pass themselves off as one of the "non-regular" performers.
I don't honestly beleive that the problem lies at the frequency of the testing - the problem simply lies with INDIVIDUALS and their personal integrity.

Private make you have your HIV no more than 5 days prior but your stds can be upto 28 days! I never really understood that as it can take up to 2 months for a person infected with HIV to give a positive reading. I think the girl Jack metioned had the right idea. I would feel a lot safer seeing a 3 month history rather than the results from 1 set of tests done 3 weeks and several partners later. I understand for various reasons not everyone will be able to do this, but I for one will now be taking past tests to shoots and I hope others will too.
I agree with Rob in the fact I think a lot of the problem is ignorance about how easily stds can be spread. A few people have said to me that they would not do penetration without tests or a condom but would happily give unprotected oral?? I don't trust condoms either to be honest, they can split very easily and dont protect against somthing like herpes which can be carried around the genitals and not in bodily fluids.
I am thankfull that this outbreak is treatable conditions, How long will it be before we have an outbreak of HIV? It only takes one person to bring it into the industry. Hepititis B is another nasty one, but this one can be prevented. Three injections from your doctor/clinic will help give immunity, everyone in the industry should have this done. Maybe if we take note now and all of us try to do something we could try to prevent further outbreaks.
and finaly, if anyone needs a good clinic in the north I have found a gem!
Medi-lab in Manchester www.medi-lab.co.uk gives full tests within 48 hours for ?113. Not widely known so you can easily get same day appointments.

Black listing certain performers is no good either. You black list the person that gave it to you and the problem was the person who gave it to them and so on and so on. It never ends and creates a huge feeling of paranoia which gets in the way of people feeling horny and delivering good scenes.
Maybe a 28 day lock down is not a bad idea so people can get themselves checked out and start over again clean....Mean time people need to eat so I guess this idea is not much good either.
People faking tests is seriously fucked up. Rule number 1: Do not work with anyone who supplies photocopies for what ever excuse. 2: Do not work with anyone even a day out of their test...even if they are your best friend. Rules is rules!
Some people have shrugged their shoulders thinking this is ok. Its only a day out. A day out is all it takes for you to catch something thats going to put you out of work for 2 weeks. This is no guarantee by any measure but certain standards have to be adopted which is why BAIHA was set up. Where is it now? No support later and this is what happens.
