As per usual many prefer to pontificate what they think they know from what they dont truly know.
The meeting is done and dusted and failed because of lack of support from an industry thatfrankly doesnt really care for it.
It was explained how it could work and was not in breach of the data protection act.
Perhaps you would like to listen to the interview with the three clinics, a lawyer and a health and safety official present at the meeting on the UKAP site before you make your opinions known here (though Ive read posts from certain people who would never go on that site so whats the point of bringing it up here if you cant be bothered to refer to the facts first)
It seems this scheme was met with derision from people who ultimately wanted it to fail because it exposed a lot of flaws within this industry...namely those who dont want to get their tests done legitimately or cant afford it or simply dont want to pay for it and those who want a sly fuck from the model and those who simply dont give a shit and see this scheme as ruining their chance for a bit of fun.
It works quite well for the rest of the world, so why wont it work here?
The data protection and how the scheme would work was explained well enough to those that attended the meeting last December, so why is this topic being brought up now?
This has failed to launch twice now wthin 5 years and I can see why it will never get launched again with any success in the future either.
If an industry doesnt apear to regulate itself then all it takes is something to go wrong before it is either outlawed or someone else steps in to regulate it for us...ie The BBFC Online scheme, the age verification system, the extreme pornography bill, The VAT situation...There will be more on the way and I wouldnt be surprised if something were to happen that it will be used against this business to control and regulate us all and by then it will be all too late.
Im sure various factions from other forums have a more effective solution from behind their keyboards. Too bad they dont back it up and do something about it instead of huffing and puffing about it.
