Lets see if I understand your logic

You accept that terrorists can't be stopped every time but you still want the heads of those in charge to roll

Perfectly illogical

If I remember correctly (I haven't looked it up) Aznar was due to retire anyway at the election and then his party lost it, partly becuase of the way he sought to blame the Basques.

Any chance of us trying to find out who carried out these atrocities, and expressing sympathy for those killed and maimed, before demanding the resignation of all and sundry?

This whole thread has become pathetic due to whatever your agenda is.

I was actually living in Spain at the time of the Madrid bombings and the General Election you are talking aboput and from gauging the media and more importantly talking to the local Spanish people then the reason why Zapatero got in was because he was anti the war in Iraq and promised to withdraw all Spanish troops and Aznar stayed loyal to the cause.

The public sided with Zapatero.

It was a shock result because only a few days before the election Aznar was widely believed to have an unbeatable lead.

"What is this taboo about admitting to an error,"

It's a result of the unfortunate 'blame culture' that has come to the fore in these wanky, tabloid obsessed, politicaly correct, times. A culture created by people like you, I guess. Nowadays, no one can stick their hand up and say "Oops, sorry. I made a mistake there" because they would be metaphorically crucified and thrown to the mob, i.e, have to resign or be ruined in some way. Of course quite often this is a load of old ball bag, because sometime 'shit just happens', It's no one's fault. This radical concept is what some enlightened people and philosophers refer to as 'an accident'. Yes, it's a difficult concept to grasp, I know. But, there you go.

"it perpetuates a myth."

Er, 'myth?' What 'myth?'

"These people are supposed to be specialists,"

Indeed. But they are not psychic or otherwise omnipotent.

"it's true that you can't prevent every act of terorism and they didn't prevent this one...."

Well, there you go then. Gald that's all sorted.

Indeed, Deuce. You know, I'm begining to think Shiola is just winding us up...

I agree. I'm begining to supect either a wind up or some form of chronic paranoia.
