Hi All,

Noticed this dabate for the last few weeks and can see that alot of misunderstanding on HIV and the UK testing programs.

For example the 30 day test would only apply to a PCR test,which can detect HIV within two weeks of infection.

Unfortunately the UK clinics normally use the ELISA test that can have a window of 6 months for detection.

Obviously no mention of HEPATITIS B which is 100 more times infectious then HIV.

I belive the Industry needs to debate the whoel STD issue and Phil McCavity call for an open discussion on March 19th would be the best way forward.

The simple equasion here is 3 X 1 three times the partners infected. The test is free if you manage yourself properly thats what the sensible amoung us are trying to arrange.
Marino has gone on record for the monthly full test. And as for the people who are amatuers and only get a job every 5 years so what, I am a professional if they are amatuers then either play by professional rules or fuck off into some other job. There is to many amatuers doing everything for free coz its a cheap shag. Sod them go back to buying well produced product and stop producing crap. Its a joke to claim amatuer basis makes youi less likely to catch an STD.

ok ok i see what everyone is saying but as i keep saying if we introduced the pcr dna test there wouldnt be this mmisconception and fasle safety of onemonth testing as i said and for thoise who do not know i also perfporm alot in america were they use this dna test which gives a much shoter time frame as it test the bodys dna instead of searching for antibodies that can take 3 months to show up ok ok for thoise who are interested which i would think would be any sane person heres it in the words of sharon mitchell founder of the aim health care please people stop arguoing about a one month elizar test which is a waste of time and instead concentrate on whats important and thats the saftey of all thos working in the adult industry which i belive only the pcrdna test can change bitching over kissssss alicia rhodes

Why does AIM use the PCRDNA test? What is it?
AIM uses this test because it is the best test for early detection of HIV and works as a stellar monitoring screening test for adult entertainment workers and the sexually active.

The standard test you would get in a doctor's office would be the ELISA test, which is a great test, but it has a window period of 6months because it tests only for the antibody which can take up to 6 months to mature in a young healthy person. Can you imagine how many people you can infect in 6 months if you are working in porn? A lot.

The PCR (polymearase chain reaction) test tests for the HIV inhibitor itself (the disease) and through an amplification process, HIV can be detected just after about 2 weeks (give or take a day or two). We screen the Adult Industry by this test every month. It has become the standard used in the adult entertainment industry in the USA and you can thank AIM for that.

We have successfully prevented the spread of HIV in porn for the last 4 years. An adult entertainment worker MUST BE TESTED EVERY 30 DAYS. Most producers will not hire you if you do not have a DNA test less than 30 days old. And believe me you do not want to work with anyone with an old test because they could be hiding HIV.

We also recommend STD testing and screening every 90 days.


What about False Positives?
AIM has done over 50,000 test over 5 years and we have had only 2 false positives and no false negatives. We also confirm each positive result by the standard Western Blot and RNA (viral load test).

I agree Alicia, but do they perform the PCR test in British STD clinics? What do they charge in the states for one of these tests plus a full screen?

i dont know if this is still the case but last time i was there the regs in the states only asked for a 30 day hiv pcr dna test. not an std test.
more performers were getting drugs tests than std tests.
