i only recently found out that it was possible to make money off youtube (i know that makes me sound dumb but fuck it) it really opened my eyes to what someone on one of the music forums i'm on does (uploading even the shortest clips to his youtube channel).

Like lemmings almost every Internet user has allowed themselves to be bought and sold for the fatuous privilege of filling out a stupid Facebook profile like some school kid from Oklahoma. A handful of big companies know all about you by name, address and date of birth and genealogy. They know more about you than your mother or your husband or wife. They know your private thoughts. They know how to get your money, they know how to get your vote. They know how to control your beliefs. They own you. Mindgeek is a criminal conspiracy just like Facebook and Google. It shelters behind some very bad US Federal Law which allows them to claim that they aren't the publisher of the material they publish. This they claim is because the publisher of the content on their so-called "platform" is the user/member who has contributed the content which they say they don't monitor.

The only solution is for the EU to make a Directive that makes every website owner, publisher and editor the publisher of everything published on their website no matter how it was sourced. And thereby liable for every copyright infringement, and every every libel in Europe. That would destroy their business model, in Europe at least. They would have to make sure that their websites were unreachable from European jurisdictions. And that would be a good thing. of course you won't be able to update your Facebook status 20 times a day, and you won't be able to download porn or music or books for free. But then there's no such thing as a free lunch or free porn. The price your paying for it is incalculable.

How to avoid Age Verification

Post by Jonboy »

Hi
One easy way to avoid Age Verification is to simply buy your porn from a shop in DVD, the problem is over the last 7 years the amount of porn, particarly on Tube sites doubles each year at the expense of the industry. Result is the small time producer is squeezed out and the big companies take over. If I was a small time producer in Britain today I would be talking to the likes of Harmony and Ann Summers to distribute my forthcoming scenes

That is another option they could have chosen for age verification. You simply go into a licensed sex shop purchase - because it's ridiculous to expect them to do it for free - an access card for say ?5, completely anonymously and away you go or maybe you might stay and buy some stuff.

i've always wished companies would sell site memberships in that way. Then there is no chance of anyone's details getting hacked and it would mean no one has to explain a ?60+ charge on their credit card to the other half. maybe the shops could get a percentage or the companies reduce the wholesale cost of dvds to encourage sales. There's plenty of ways to tackle age verification which maintain anonimity and don't give a monopoly to a single company and plenty of ways to get people into shops. The problem is that people are happier moaning about being ripped off by the likes of pornhub than actually being a bit proactive about their defence.

Age verification is just another way of information gathering which is big business and will never stop minors from accessing porn anyway.

And if you find a way round it by signing up through sex shops it wouldn't be long before the government outlawed it.

Its ironic that the BBFC are now in charge of it since they have been looking for ways to future proof their business online since DVD declined and they lost revenue on R18 classification

They fought long and hard through ATVOD and now they have teamed up with Mind Geek (indirectly) for AV

Funny how that turned out
