ATVOD/ APN Meeting yesterday now LIVE!

This was the most attended and varied given that MindGeek among other people made up the near 60 people that attended to discuss and vent our issues ahead of the site blocking that is coming soon for websites not compliant with regulation and age verification

Great for you to get this up so quick Terry, it was a very interesting meeting and I see things moving forward in a positive manner. Look forward to it being discussed at the UKAP open meeting this afternoon.

Its already had 50 listens overnight (must be a few nght owls amongg us) so I'm thinking a lot of people knew about it and couldnt make it yesterday morning.

It was not just an impressive turnout but it was good to see certain luminaries like MindGeek and the home office backing the business to by defending us against the Internet Watch Foundation and even Google approaching this in a mature fashion.

I got the impression if there was a poor turn out they would have exacted the rules as they say fit in our absence and this is why i support proactivity where this business is concerned.

I liked what the Chair Sharon said about using ATVOD as they are there to help, but feel Pete Johnson's attitude is still a little off. He seems angry that companies are not coming forward to register.

If ATVOD (Pete) offered a more open helpful attitude it could help bring more sites under regulation. Maybe they could be more carrot and less stick.

Will discuss at the UKAP meeting later as I have held off emailing ATVOD my thoughts till after the meeting.

Spoke to various individuals (who shall remain nameless) because these things shouldnt be attributable to names which is why no one knows whats going on except those who attended.

I guess the feeling is those who didnt attend have no right to voice their concerns at the changes that are coming as they would have been made in their absence.

We were talking to friends today who have been shifting their sites/uploading/pay systems to Holland & neighboring countries for when this takes place...if it does,
we ourselves will get a ATVOD site if forced but would prefer to send our unedited material to sites based & uploaded from abroad which show our films.

Twitter will soon be full of proxy servers to obtain foreign sites so it will only be our UK producers who will suffer with the governments ludicrous attempts to block porn, when is the due date for the block or as it yet to be passed by the house of lords.

I for one dont think the blocks will come easy at all. Cameron throws his weight around but the UK is still beholden to the EU

The decision to block sites is bigger than porn and it is being tackled through the Digital Policy Alliance and Trust Elevate

In a nutshell this involved a committee of heavyweight players trying to implemtn age verification but knowing it has to gain trust from the consumer who wont tust putting their details through any porn site if you consider the press surrounding Ashley Madison recently I'd say they got a hell of a task trying to convince the man on the street to pay for porn safely and anonymously

Well thats the plan anyway but age verification has so many other holes in it too that i wont bore you with. Best saved for a chat over a pint I think.
