Promoting sites

Post by James not Bond »

There has been a bit of talk on this forum about promoting sites, which is good, as far as I am concerned the more sites doing well the more models get work and it makes it easier for all concerned.

This is something I wrote today, hopefully it will help someone out there.

Promoting an adult website.

From the start I will say that I have had no formal training in either designing, building or running websites, but I do have 7 years experience in having a site and without wanting to come across as some big headed twat, that is good going, year on year turnover has increased.

These are the things that I have done to promote my site.

1.
Blogs. I used Thumblogger, I say used due to the fact that they seem to be having problems here in the UK which is a shame, I have used them since 2007 with good results, lots of traffic to my own site, but in the past few months since the problems started traffic from there has dropped 35-40%. I am now creating my own blogs on my own server. I had 32 blogs on Thumblogger, but made the mistake of copy and pasting the same text on each one, not my brightest move.

2.
Promotional sites. These are probably called something else, but I call them promotional sites. I have bought domains and created various styles of layout to help with promoting the main site.
Examples of these are:

That gives you the idea of what I have done with them.

3. Social Network.
Facebook can be used, but you know the score with them, just be real careful as to what is shown and mentioned.
Twitter is good, just don?t show porn in your profile pic, I just use logos, a lot safer.

I have been asked what is the point of having blogs and promotional sites as these have to be promoted also. I use toplists, on each blog and promo site you will see the links.

Affiliates. Between 20-25% of my sign-ups are through affiliates, obviously I would like to increase that, but as I said at the start of this War and Peaceesque epic I have no formal training so am struggling with the concept of FHG, TGP etc etc. I have created these:

I use them on my blogs and promo sites.

I have made mistakes, some financially costly others a waste of time.

Some experts will read that and think to themselves, 'how the fuck has he lasted 7 years?', I cant answer that, all I can say is that self promotion seems to have worked for me and I would like to see UK GIRLS DOWNLOADS still online in another 7 years.
