Does No mean No?

Post by CaramelCrunch »

I thought in this industry when you were approached by someone that wanted you to work for them you were entitled to decline the work

is this not the way it wors in this industry?

I think in this day and age alot of "photographers" are used to having girls begging them for work and not getting turned down.
Iv had quite a few people recently get quite nasty when iv declined their offers of "work".

Hi CC, whats up? !confused! It should do, it's your prerogative to accept or decline any work. Is someone hassling you?

I have said NO a few times, it's normally when it's someone with no profile/refs etc who ask you for your rates and then suddenly say they can't afford it, and also to those who offer such a rediculous price for a shoot and whos photography is crap anyway but then act like i'm in the wrong for turning it down.

Anyway Thankfully there are some excellent togs/producers out there, some who I have worked with and some I have yet to work with and some I will never work with again.

You live and learn as you go through this industry but one thing is for sure I would never take on a job I am not happy with no matter how much was on offer. It's about having the right to choose and at times saying NO.

Well thats my rant over with lol

No definitely means no. Even if its halfway through a job

I hear that and I dont even bother negotiate. I just make like a ghost and I'm gone

If a girl says no on the outset what makes people think that by swaying her with more money that they are going to get a better shoot than what they would have paid anyway?

I usually find a refusal leads to a come back a few months later when they are ready to do so. One girl told me she wanted to do her homework on me first.

I was cool with that. If I was a woman I probably would too

Carmel - NO must always mean NO, even as Terry has clearly indicated even halfway through a shoot,IT has to be your decision.

When I got into this, it wasn't just my decision. I have a hubby and kids and it was discussed at length before I decided to go ahead. The key things for me are that I'm not in it for the money (although I want to be paid what I think I'm worth, fairly), and that I'm only doing stuff that gives me and my hubby a buzz. If I wanted to fuck regular guys in hotel rooms I could've done that easily without going to the effort of finding work in porn....I only want to work with porn studs and on decent sets....call me a snob if you like, but that's what does it for us, and I won't do what I don't want to do, or anything my hubby, who is my no.1 no matter what, doesn't get turned on by.

With that in mind, I have probably turned down 95% percent of the work I've been offered so far, but so far everyone has been fine and understood my reasons. Anyone who isn't will simply be cut off.

Well done Sammi, I too take the same attitude and every job I do I talk over with my other half first, if he is not happy I don't do the work, and I only work within limits I am comfortable with.

So nice to see others have the same values I do.

Keep doing what you enjoy.

Love
