Kim I noticed the word girl and no need for an audition in your post.
To my mind no girl has to audition for a porn film unless she is saying lines and even then the audition is an acting one hwere sex is not required.
Guys are the only ones who should audition but this is a rare thing indeed since there are so many reliable guys around that everyone knows what they can do by looking on the various sites.
I think my point about the free shoots was missed that because of of the content shares and tfps that people just expect this is the way to go and the word is out already that no one need pay for shoots anymore. Just count the amount of posts this week alone on this forum then stop to think about al the other forums you dont know about or go to then you will have saome idea where this industry is going.
I accept with any business some evolving to go with it but this business is not evolving, it is devolving and the wird thing is I kind of saw it coming many years ago.
If people are wondering why there is a lot less shoots going around, its not necesarily just this but everyhting else added on top converging together to create the environment we are in right now.
I doubt this post or thread will even change anything but its worth mentioning just to debate it and at least bring it to everyones attention when they stop to wonder where the salad days of porn making money have gone.

Definitely, content share can work well for some models and some sites. But the share needs to be clearly stated from the start. Sounds like they were trying to take the pee out of you, so good decision declining!
There's another type of content share that we do sometimes - we shoot half the material for the model, and half the material for our site. So both sides get exclusive. It works pretty well.

I tried telling people a few years ago that TFP was going to destroy the industry, and all it got me was enemies and a load of trouble.
There's just so so many stories like this now and I agree with OEJ that some of these people probably don't even see that they're taking the piss because it's so widespread, they come into the industry, see others doing it and think it's the norm.
I know models who've left the industry because they just got fed up with all the chancers, and like I predicted a few years ago I believe the lack of really good quality reliable models at the minute is largely down to TFP, TFCD and content share, because any potential new model gets her inbox bombarded with hundreds of these kind of offers within hours of signing up to the model directory sites, so it's no surprise that most will see no benefit in working for free and being taken advantage of, think it's a sleazy business and give up before they've started.
Like Peter, although some slip through the net I have always tried as much as possible not to book models I know have done free shoots TFP, etc. but sadly there's been too many people who have been happy to book these so-called models that that has only allowed the problem to escalate.
I hate to say it, but it's going to get worse before it gets better, if it ever does get better.

Re: Is this normal
With auditions i mean the producers who expect girls to do a quick 10 min sex scene for nothing to see if they are any good for an upcoming role, they even have the cheek to ask girls to sign a model release...these scenes are then put into compilations & sold on DVD.
Doing content share won't stop producers paying models because producers have nothing to offer in exchange for shared work so you will find it mainly goes on between the models themselves.
If John just filmed models on a shared basis just because he has cameras i would agree it was wrong but i star in the films with the other models so its model working with model, i do think its been blown out out proportion.
Models won't stop doing paid jobs & if like its been said the models don't get nothing out of content share how does it effect the producers anyway?

Re: Is this normal
Omg this is now totally blown out of proportion.
If your choosing not to pick a model because you know she has done TFP then don't you think you could potentially miss out on a geat model, so your loss could be someone elses gain.
There is nothing wrong in doing TFP when you are first starting out and thankfully people like Kim etc are kind enough to give a helping hand, not only for content but general advice as well. They could so easily charge for this service but they know it's not easy when you first start and that we are not loaded with money.
Are any of you producers willing to hire us with no professional photographs on our profiles? Because when i first joined AIR i was advised to have some professional pics done as this guy who emailed me said he would like to see some on there and so would others as it would help.
How was i meant to have got my pics if i didn't content share?
Because of doing content share it has lead to me earning money now, so where is the harm? It's not like i'm doing content share 24/7 lol.
Also RoyR i do object to being refered to as a so-called model) and i quote from your page.
*but sadly there's been too many people who have been happy to book these so-called models that that has only allowed the problem to escalate.*
I am a model, a BBW model and i do attract work offers, all because I have quality professional photographs and they like what they see & read and i fit there requirements for a shoot. I am also a good reliable model and i turn up for shoots in plenty of time and make sure i have everything with me. Can also vouch for others who have recently started that are reliable, and hardworking.
So how am i harming anyone, i'm not.
Jo

Re: Is this normal
Sorry Jo, but you are harming both your own work prospects and the industry in general by doing TFP.
Firstly, your own prospects of getting work are affected because there are many people like Peter and myself who have no desire to subsidize the TFP brigade. I know the usual defence is that you get paid in pictures blah blah blah, but this idea of models needing pictures in order to get bookings is what the chancers want models to believe, the fact is that if someone has the potential to be a model then all she needs to get started are clear snapshots, and if you take the time to look at the top model agencies you'll discover that this is what they request to see and will in many cases be deterred by anything other. They ideally want applicants to send 5 snapshots (full length front, rear and side view, close up of face, and a topless or nude if looking for work that involves such). One of numerous examples that can be provided to back this up, click the link and note the responses to questions 2 and 3 on Alba's FAQs page
Secondly, it affects the whole industry because if girls are happy to work without getting paid then more and more photographers and producers will choose that option, "do I pay model A x amount, or shoot model B for free?". The more models who are happy to be taken advantage of and work without being paid, the less paid work there is available because there's no need to pay, it's pretty obvious. This is what has happened and will continue to happen, more and more people are seeking to avoid paying model fees because there are plenty of girls with no self respect who are happy to work for nothing.

Re: Is this normal
I think part of the thing here is that there are an increasing number of "hobby models" - even at adult levels. This is NOT an insult, and is not aimed at anyone on this thread, or anyone specifically.
Swingers, too, people who do it for fun. All good.
BUT it does mean the boundry between professional and amateur gets blurred, and people will try to push it.
As mentioned above, it leads to some people EXPECTING others to work for free or "TF" or content share. And that does undermine the concept of professional models getting paid for a job.
Now, as the opening post says, we have people asking to be PAID to shoot models for their (the photographers) own site. Utter farce.

Re: Is this normal
Ok then so why am i getting paid work now then?
Plus would you have booked me if i had never done content share?
Maybe you should do more to help new models into the industry, or would you charge them for your time?
Guess you should call me "HOVIS" from now on cause it seems i have been getting the best of both up till now lol
I do this work because I love it and will succeed in what i do and it's about what I want out of it. I have the pleasure of being able to choose when i work and who i work with.
To me it sounds like sour grapes cause you are loosing out somewhere.
Some of us have a good balance in our lives within the industry and we are doing very well from it.
All the best
HOVIS

Re: Is this normal
Thats cool, if you are happy, stick with it. To be honest, I'm not sure why you started this thread at all.
If you are happy doing content share for someones website, then so what if people push the boundries a little more by asking for ?25 and some wine?
People WILL do that.
