Regards, mp3
QUOTE "thanks captain obvious."

No probs, Lieutenant don't give a damn about other people.

Like I said, there will be some people who take offense at what I'm saying (some people just hate being told anything - sign of the times I think) but bearing in mind that my post is in response to hearing about quite a few people who have fallen foul of dodgy people and rackets, is it really that obvious?
Perhaps it's obvious to mp3 but does that mean we should just ignore everyone else then? I suppose mp3 is saying to hell with anyone who doesn't know what he/she deems to be an obvious rule to safety.

Since it's so obvious, can mp3 please give us idiots a short briefing on what to ask as adequate business and personal references then? Can we please have details on how to check the different types of references you might come across, in all the different ways that they can be offered in this business?

The bottom line is this - if it's obvious to you then I wasn't speaking to you.

Well said Daz

Its just a shame that a lot of the models your post is aimed at dont even know about the BGAFD ...Or UKAP...Or AIR...

Although conningmodels into doing something for free is not new it is worrying when you hear several stories in succession from different sources involving several people.

In fact Im thinking that UKAP should play an integral part in this. AIR is pretty good at dispensing good advice too. We should centralise and consolidate and maybe your message could get out there so that models can at least hear about it.

I htink these same people preying on models are doing so because they know how easy it is because it isnt regulated and lets face it, if anything goes wrong its always porn in general that is the bad guy

I would say that the models need to set themselves up something but we all know how fractured that area really is. Its worse than the producers and it makes them all sheep fresh for pickings for the wolves.

I use direct emailing simply because given the usual scenario "photographer contacts model" it means that the model has the guys email and can then be in control of what happens next.

Models can use that in many ways.

1) They might respond to vague "rates and levels" from a clearly busy john@playboy.co.uk but not to ivorbuiggun@hotmail.com

2) They might google the address - if anyone, anywhere had flagged it, then it will come up.

3) It means that they have the complete email exchange on THEIR computer.

4) Evil Doers who understand the implications of a direct email system and the above points, don't use it.

It also neatly sidesteps a LOT of admin aggro with people who are forever complaining that they have lost their account details. Far too many password resets seem to get spam trapped these days, resulting in me needing to do it by hand.

I still love performing and shooting, and always happy to help people make porn. Esp if tittivation.com will be an outlet :-)

I think even genuine amateur producers should make an effort to respect the security of models by not using hotmail addresses.

Maybe as Paul Bergman has said but I'm not familiar with Adult Works system so unable to comment.

Its ironic that models should be so trusting of those talking about money when they should be equally suspicious that someone spending that money would do so from the relative anonymity of a hotmail address.

I have had models ask me of names I have no idea about using me as a reference which is worrying. Lucky the girls check with me then realise theyve been had.

Thing is until this is cleared up the problem will persist and there is nothing we can do about it unless the models themselves wise up
