Punk/Goth Girls; Popular or Not?

Post by Rico »

What's the forum's thoughts on punk/goth/alt/geek girls (like Burning Angels or Suicide Girls)? Is it a genre that is popular?

Its getting more and more popular all the time. When I first got into the industry, I was told by several people not to even bother trying as heavily tattooed/alt girls wont ever make it anywhere in the UK industry but now I am seeing more and more companies shooting alt girls. We are alittle abit behind the US on this as its been popular over there for years, but im working on that! The biggest difference that you will see between an alt-porn site and a standard porn site is that the alt-porn sites are community sites with chatrooms, forums etc where the members can chat with the girls etc so they attract anyone who lives an alt lifestyle rather than attracting porn fans only.

I don't think it's a matter of whether a model is tattooed or not that makes for popularity.

The Tattoo/Goth/Suicide girl thing is pretty much old news now - especially in America where there is still a HUGE offline gothgirl culture in SF and Seattle.

It died a death in the US primarily because the types of girl 'look at me..look at me' that got inked up traditionally aren't the best looking girls. Hence the attention seeking tattoos in the first place.

You can't be sexy, cool and alt just by getting an injection of ink. It doesn't work that way.

Fetish models such as Masuimi Max and Kumi are popular models who just so happen to have tattoos.

Plus, 'alt' isn't what it used to be. Everything is alt now, with much style but little substance.

As for punk. Ric, like me you're old enough to remember original punk. The feeble dross marketed as 'punk' today has none of the attitude, the creativity or depth of passion.

Hmmph.

sigh.

My son tinkered with that new wave punk crap and dated several anaemic goth girls.

They were just miserable-for-miserable sake, vegetable nibbling, cryin in the bedroom, stranded on Facebook, need to get more sun, MIDDLE CLASS airheads masquerading as Proust reading, alternative, subculture savvy, interesting people.

DOH. I see what you did!

It was nice to hear Howard Devoto give 1978 as the end of 'punk' after all he should know!

That's my point. There's nothing 'alt' about a girl with a tattoo having a shag.

Having spent to many years working in Camden the most 'alt' thing I can think of is a girl with out tattoos - just about every woman in the UK's got some crappy tattoo somewhere.
