Why bother watching some hatchet job porn documentry, when you can sit down with a nice cold one amd watch the real deal.
Every man/woman and his dog who sets out to portray a day in the life of the porn industry, fails miserably. The paymasters demand the usual ingredients, explotation of women, drug abuse, prostitution, aids epidemic etc, ALLWAYS seedy, never happy! as in people really enjoying themseves, it never occurs to these people, that some people actually enjoy thier adult entertainment lifestyle.
All these post ie: can someone help me research!,I,m making a documentry! were making a film about the adult industry, make me puke, I,m not as kind as JJ and not as elequent, but I can see fucking gloom and doom when it,s in front of me.And it started this thread off.

OK, but if we (or the potential participants) shut the door completely, we/they'll NEVER get the case across. And I keep harping on about how porn lacks an influential lobby: such a doc. could be the beginning of same.
It just takes ONE reasonably honest and sympathetic docu-maker.
There must be one out there..........surely?
Marcus/Jim et. al. might gang up together and do their own, but it's hard to see who'd air it.

Yeah, I know your right jj, but having watched several of these things, it strikes me that although some are made by independant film companies, by the time they are offered to mainstream TV, they become something totally different.
Usually depressing.

Well, I suppose we'll just have to see what, if anything, transpires.
Time for a cuppa.........

Depressing shows seem to be in favour Liz and have been for a long time...those that aren't depressing are about Sex in one form or another

The highest rating shows on TV are
News Shows and aren't they just a barrel of laughs
Far more destructive than any Porn doco or flick could ever be

If the porn industry were to be shown as a happy fun filled industry viewers wouldn't watch it...remember you watch TV to chill out....not to think IMHO

cheers

And a drama-documentary with being just going about their business wouldn't last long - you'd need the crafty svengali producer and the OD by the psychologically-unbalanced best friend and coming to terms with the bad news from the clinic. Hey, if they really went for it they could probably get a brutal beating or a sexual serial killer in there. Forget the research folks - there's your plot (in more ways than one)!

Then there's the svengali at the root of all things who sits stroking his pet cat with an inscrutable smile and a glass of JW...

Don't forget the porn baron being driven around in his black merc by two grunts (non-speaking roles). The teenage mum being "forced" into porn by societies abondoment of her and her bastard children to life on a sink estate.

Oh, and their should be some hint at the photographers paedophilic tendancies.

Or you could just pull a copy out of the box marked "Stereotypes"

Touchy subject and I'm not normally one to speak up. BUT...

I can't help but read the above posts and wonder why those of you who say 'Yeah, I'd do it if...' don't promote your side of the story.
I'm merely a viewer who lurks here to understand a little of the mechanics, like going to visit Willy Wonka and see where it all comes from. But there are enough contributors here who seem to know what they are about, surely someone would take up the opportunity to help produce your stories. In an industry that so many frown upon, in part due to the previous attempts to 'blow the lid', this would be to your favour?

I can already see the financing being one issue so please do not shout me down for my naivety, I also hope this is not taken as rude and jumped upon. It's just a thought.
