Police don't have the power?.......

The bar manager should want to find out who the culprit is - and be helping the police.

sounds to me, like it's a coverup - maybe they found out it was a member of staff?
although they all seemed so nice - but it's strange how one minute they are saying don't panic they have cctv - then the next minute they don't any.

The police do have power to get CCTV footage from the bar. It's potential evidence of a crime, after all. They may need a warrant though, and it's possible that they can't be arsed to obtain one. You could complain to more senior police that your theft isn't being taken sufficiently seriously.

But if the bar say there isn't any useful footage, quite likely there isn't, either because the cameras are pointing in the wrong direction, or the recorder has been bust for the last 6 months and they haven't done anything about it or nobody ever changes the tapes/disks or whatever...

Stormchild,

Been away for a few days and only just seen this post - soooo sorry for you mate - as has already been said there's always a tosser that ruins everyone's fun (and it sounded a great nite).

As you say the police don't give a toss but keep your chin up and don't let this incident spoil your work - you produce great stuff so keep on trucking!

rgds as always

That sounds about right.
The police just expect that people will claim on their insurance

LATEST UPDATE: NO INSURANCE

Post by Ron T. Storm »

Can you Adam and Eve it? The fucking insurance brokers who said I was insured...wel checked now and never was insured. I filled my direct debit form etc last year and my fault never checked payments were being taken. When I spoke to the insurance company they actually said the number the broker had given me did not excist on record so even if I had not been making payments they would still of had a reference about a policy being cancelled due to lack of payments. Yep I should have been checking this but was having a rather rough time last year when the policy was taken out.

So I spend last Saturday getting myself insured. The party ended up costing me over ?1200. Luckily it was my backup camera but still ?1200. !furious!

A big thank you goes out to the cunt who stole my camera and the photos I took. Hope Karma catches up with you.

Have reported the serial numbers as I had these.

Have a nice day,

Stormchild,
Sorry to read that about your insurance policy.
Was that a separate insurance just for your camera or your full home contents as well?.
The reason i ask is when i was robbed a few years back losing both cameras and some lighting equipment plus half my HI-Fi, i just claimed on my home contents insurance policy.

true very true Scott.

And Nikonman - it was extended household insurance - my house wasn't covered either. Well thank god it is now.

Life is good even if camera nicked. I get on with it.
