Photosets prices and rights

Post by digitalmaniac »

Hi all-with a little bit of luck an editor will be reading this and offer his thoughts.

Starting an adult content provider site for web based and publisher based.

Considering these licence types and prices.

Photosets non exclusive 100 images ?20 lifetime internet licence internet res

Photosets of the same for publishers countrywide rights on a non exclusive basis . ?100 for 100 images in highest res for publication.

100% exclusive photosets seen only by publishers eyes and 1 year licence 100 images ?600 - ?1000 depending on how new the model is.

Semi exclusive rights-of the same having sold previosuly on exclusive rights ?300 for 1 year licence.

What does anyone think-ive been researching the market and this seems about right

Blimey in 1993/4 I was selling images non-exclusive for web use for ?10.00 an image. I can see there ain't no money in it anymore.

0.6 yes this is depending on how old the content is and how bigger bundle you buy.

As for images being ?10 per set 15 years ago at 3% inflation a year thas 45% up and its now ?20 so thats 100% above-so Its well above inflation and there are some sites with 8000 photosets on so they must be making money.

Also some of the cheaper content is from europe and the photo quality is very poor imho

?10 per IMAGE

I used to get prices like that too. Not worth the effort these days, no-one pays for anything anymore.

Yes I said ?10.00 per image - NOT set. Now it's not even worth the bother of scanning the slides. To much work for a no profit return.

LOL ok guys so maybe in the hay day you got ?10 an image. But how many sites were there back in 93 when the internet was a pup.

Im sure you guys are earning really well from what your doing right now-must say I have checked outyour profile and very impressed.

But as a newbie who is going into this I intend to at least make some good money out of it in the long run.

If they were paying you ?1000 for a set then power to ya-but even publishers will often not stump up that kinda cash now days.

But there is still a need for fresh content on the web and I intend to give it a try.
Depends what your used to earning really.

To be honest I was ispired to go this way by scott ward. His site started with a few dozen sets about a year ago and now he has hundreds of sets on it.

He must be making sales to pay for all the models.

Volume rather than quality individual sales-what do I knowlol. Im just trying to make money from a market I have always dreant of working in.

Gotta be better than portraits and weddings.
