Once again, cobblers Mr Mole.

I agree they are Ofcom REGULATIONS (not laws though), but that makes them totally challengeable in court, especially as they breach European law.

Other stations do not get "fined a LOT". SMALL stations get fined a lot, particularly those that are free-to-air:

Playboy - broadcast hardcore - not fined

Adult channel - broadcast hardcore - not fined

Red Hot - broadcast hardcore - not fined

TVX - broadcast hardcore - not fined

Xplicit - broadcast hardcore - FINED.

Various FTA channels - fined for daring to show an occasional front bottom.

And as to the web stuff, yes its good to finally be able to see it but they are way late to the party. The other major channels have been doing it for years. Also, most people would prefer the convenience of satellite broadcast over sitting in a small study on an uncomfortable chair pounding away under the desk.

Grawth, are you sure about Playboy TV? I seem to recall they got pinged for about ?30,000 and that's what terminated their venture into full R18 on tele.(It was for an episode of "Sandy, Babe abroad, I think).
Anyway, I'm only being pedantic and it doesn't alter the fact that we're being conned and lied to by Ofcon on the real reasons why full R18 is prohibited.

I could be wrong - problem is though, they didn't just show the one episode of Sandy, they had an entire evening of R18 Sandy, plus single episodes over the next couple of weeks, plus the odd other show such as Full Contact Girls.

Even if they were fined ?30k for this (and my memory says it had more to do with their Freeview than the R18), when you compare that to the ?50k fine suffered by Xplicit for broadcasting one R18 show to an audience of 54 punters (I believe the figure is correct) then it makes you wonder.

I still fail to see what purpose, what achievements, what betterement of our society is being achieved by the ban on full R18 on tv.

I did the first show last week and i came in an hour early to attend a meeting with the lawyer to go through everything we could and couldn't do and say, and the guidelines are strict as i've now worked on four channels you can safely say it is the censors. However i worked last night and i didn't get off the phone all night and have to get on the mic for calls so we must be doing something right...as this is essentially a sex chatline, but people will always winge because people always want to see more...and for free

I'm on tonight so if you want to speak to me call me, if you want to see me doing hardcore buy one of my bloody dvds!

Two points Katie, if I may.

We wouldn't winge if the channels were consistent in what they show, but they're not. Different channels show different strengths at different times, and ALL the major channels have chosen to broadcast R18 strength material at some point over the last three years (most recently TVX with its repeats of Antonia's show a couple of weeks ago). So please forgive us if we are a little confused / cynical.

Point 2, don't you find it ridiculous that its OK to watch explicit rape, drug-taking, murder and a bloke having a gun shoved up his back passage before the trigger is pulled (all in Baise-Moi, certificate 18), its OK to watch gay blokes pissing, its OK to watch people being graphically blown to bits / eaten / all manner of horrible things and yet watching sex is deemed harmful! If you can find some sense in that then I welcome your comments.

Grawth, may I also add that it's O.K. to watch sex on the internet, on mobile phones and on PSP but not on the tele. Katie, surely you must see how skewed the thinking is? Now, if there's a risk to kids from seeing sex, then the mobile phone has to be banned. What control is there on youngsters downloading porn to their phones? Hardly any, as far as I can see.
If they're going to see hardcore imagery, there's the greatest chance. Ofcon are lying to us when they say that the TV must be censored because children are watching.
