Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Lara, I guess it is part of the industry but no doubt it's annoying as hell. I've yet to start any shoots so I haven't had the misfortune yet (I'm just doing my research at the moment).

Carder, you've certainly got a great attitude but I'm guessing you're well funded enough for it not to make a big dent in your budget. As a new starter, I've got to say I'm on a poor man's shoestring budget.

Isabela Ice, the 'kill fee' sounds like an interesting idea, especially if it comes out of the pocket of the person who canceled.

Also, is there not a directory of reliable photographers/actors anywhere? Surely it'd be a great place to check to see if you're heading for a no-show?

Hi,
If the shoot is booked and the girl doesn't turn up/ or you don't hear from them on the morning of a shoot, that's a no-show. It happens to the best of us ! lol

Everyone gets no shows, my dentist for instance used to get a lot of people not turn up for appointments so began charging ?25 for missed appointments and apparently it really cut down on the number, my doctors surgery also had a similar problem and they sent letters to everyone saying that if anyone fails to keep two appointments then they would not just remove that person but everyone at that address. Seems the only way to deal with no shows is take action against it.

Name the no shows and then people will need to be more reliable. If you can't name them on here because of the rules then maybe someone could set something up where they could be named, a directory kept for listing people who no show.

would be a potential legal mindfield, libel and defamation ahoy.

Someone on one of the other modelling sites, had a disgruntled member set up something called modelsnitch or something like that, where photographers and models left reports on bad shoots, and their hosting was pulled repeatedly, and soooo many legal threats it was just silly. But then the focus of the site was really a vendetta and not actual real stuff.

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

Sounds like a great idea stockie but then you'd need a visa merchant account or you need them to pay when you send them a bill for a no-show.

With a Visa card number they could call their credit card company and ask for a charge back or they'll just ignore your bill.

I do like the idea though.

This sounds like another great idea but evidently it's ripe for abuse.

How long did they last before they were finally pulled?

Cenobitez - Wouldn't a list of photographers and producers who are reliable not be a better solution? If people are risk adverse, they could just only accept work from them.

On AIR I encourage people to add positive comments about models to their listings, ditto models to those of photographers.

You can't bad mouth people because of legal issues, but if people at least gave positive comments that would help.

I also suggest to all photographers, esp amateurs, that they set up a Gallery (somewhere, if not on AIR) to show that they are genuine.

I'm surprised at how few actually do.

I still love performing and shooting, and always happy to help people make porn. Esp if tittivation.com will be an outlet :-)
