Online HIV / STD certs?

Post by Danny30 »

Has anyone come across this website before?

http://www.drthom.com/index.php

It seems to be offering HIV / STD tests by post (for a fee of course). Would this be sufficient for actors / actresses to use or would producers not accept it?
The tests do seem legitimate - saliva swap for HIV, urine tests for Gonorrhea / Chlamydia, etc . . and the turnaround time is reasonable.

Thoughts anyone?

Erm...I have gonorrhoea this month so will you piss in that for me mate? I can't afford to cancel next weeks shoot you see................I have a cocaine.......err I mean rent to pay.

So anyone accepting such a test would be a moron.

If you came onto our set then the only Certs I would accept are NHS with headed notepaper, medicentre and Regents park clinic. Sam slaterb is right, if a nurse does not take the swabs how can so called 'DR Thom' atually know that the tests have come from the person he/she is giving the cert too.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether you would work with someone who had a cert given from this site.

If an individual wants to check out that awkward itch...fair enough.

As for Adult Performers....not worth the paper it's written on !doh!

As a producer I would not in any way touch any model male or female producing certs of this kind it needs to be stopped and all whom are working in the industry needs to stick together on this.

If fake certs can be done using reputable hospitals then online self certs need to be banned as does the fake ones, lives are at risk here and a knock on affect for all whom are professional in the industry....

I use Rehents Park clinic every month, i travel for 2.5 hours each way to get there and back, but i wouldn't dare risk having a test done 'online' nor taking a fake cert to a shoot!

As said, if it's for your own peace of mind fair enough, but if you work as a performer then don't bother!

Had a look at the site, and nowhere does it say it's aimed at the adult biz, so chill out people. I personally think it's a brilliant idea as it wil attract people too shy or timid to attend a proper clinic, thereby those that would otherwise live with an infection will get treated. However the most important tests are for life threatening infections HIV, syphillus and hep, these should still be left to the clinics.
