Are Affiliate programs best way to promote a site?

Post by marlowe »

I've always been very reluctant to give up 50% of my membership sales via an affiliate program, so of course I've never set up an affilitate program to promote any of my websites... I am now seriously considering setting up an affiliate program to try out the idea. I only use CCBILL so the program would be set up through CCBILL. I've always felt that I've never made as much money as I could have from running websites. I've been running adult websites for over 3 years now. I'm convinced that I could have made a lot more money if I'd promoted my sites a lot more. That's obvious, I know... So I'm going to promote my sites a lot more now. I'm considering buying traffic or setting up an affiliate program so that other webmasters can promote my sites... I now just have 3 membership websites:

I would appreciate any feedback on these questions:

1) Do you think that the best way to promote a website is to set up an affiliate program?

2) Do you think that it might work just as well to pay for traffic instead?

3) Has anyone had any experience of setting up their own affiliate program to promote their website. If so, did it work for you. How well did it work for you.

Any other thoughts or comments on this would be appreciated.

Hiya in simple response to your question yes it works very well. I worked hard promoting to TGP's and then a year ago I started the affiliates, now I find a lot of these TGP webmasters have started promoting my sites. It certainly helps when you see your sites at the top of a list of "friends sites" free of charge (apart form the sign ups)

I'm very happy with the arrangements and so are my affilaites. It doesn't have to be 50% though. I pay $9.00 per sign up and rebill.

Good luck with it

As someone who signs up to affiliate programs I find I only get signups for the ones that make content available. Ones with only banners and link codes which are usually CCBILL ones I find useless. But the ones with content available I do rather well with. So I would advise that you make content available for your affiliates

I am an affiliate of several sites including some of the top porn paysites, and the ones that do the best are those that update reguarly and have numerous galleries to link to both stills and film clips, you have to let the punters have a glimpse at what they will be getting for their money as there is plenty of choice out there in cyberspace.

Thanks everyone. I think I might try out the idea and just set up one affiliate program for one of my sites. If that works well I can then set up affiliate programs for the other 2 sites... If I do set up an affiliate program I would e-mail lots of different webmasters to tell them about my affiliate program. It seems to be the easiest and quickest way to promote a website.

Well I've finally took the plunge and have set up my first affiliate program:

I'll see how this goes. If it goes well I'll create affiliate programs for my other two sites.

Hi we find our affiliates are making good money from our program. We have our sites and
We pay 60% to webmasters on both of these and as well as the set content we give access to those who are working at it to a whole range of our content including video clips.

I have an affiliate program at UK Girls Downloads. I am in the process of creating hosted galleries and videos clips to help with promotion. I hope to have these available early next week.

If anybody is interested in promoting UK Girls Downloads and needs other content, contact me with your requirements.
