UK Adult Awards -Get a Grip

Post by u_suck19 »

Hey peeps,

apparently one week after the UK Adult award show I can still buy tickets to the awards, lol (is this some kind of scam?)

http://www.redzonepictures.com/tickets.htm

...and also we are still waiting for the full list of awards winners from the organisers

but hey you can still make nominations
http://www.redzonepictures.com/nominations.htm

The whole award show is a good idea, but only if done in a professional manner. How can anyone take it serious when the organisers don't appear to take it seriously?

I'm publishing my own spoof list of award show winners next week, bet I'll still beat the organisers to it.

i'll say sack redzone and put someone else in charge.

Well my thinking is if you know the event was last Friday and you checked to still buy tickets I'm sure the organisers would give you a refund.

Given the show was done by a skeleton crew inside 2 months I think Phil did an ace job. Yeah so there were a few bumps in the carpet but I would back Phil for what he has achieved withthis. Who would you suggest take it over? The organisers of Erotica?????

As far as I'm concerned the show had the right kind of anarchy and chaos to it but still held it together. I'm glad it wasnt overly professional with a stiff upper lip and all that nonsense and it was by far one of the most exciting events I've been to in a while with regards to this industry so I'm a bit blinkered on this.

There are bound to be teething troubles with a first show, hopefully the team behind it are still together next year and build on their experience base to have a bigger, better, smoother night next time.

It's necessary for an event like this to be part of the calendar to both legitimise the industry, giving it a focal point and getting rid of the sleazy reputation, and also to improve the standard of performances on both sides of the camera on a year by year basis.

It's in everyone interests that the event snowballs and becomes important. This year was an important step in the right direction.

Being new to this part of the adult industry I had no expectations for the evening, I had briefly met and spokent to Phil at a trade show early this year and the enthusiasm he showed for the industry as a whole was fantastic.

Trying to organise an event in any industry is hard work, trying to organise a"first time" event is even harder, you have no feedback from previous evenings so you have to start from scratch. To please everyone is never going to happen, you just have to go with what you know and what you think people want.

I personally think Phil and his team should get an Award for even trying. Yes things go wrong, but this is how we learn to get better. I am sure Phil was hoping for constructive comments on this forum, to help for next year, not people moaning, which doesn't help anyone!

There was not one part of that evening I did not enjoy! I am looking forward to next year. It will be difficult for Phil to delegate to others in the industry to help as this was his "baby", but I hope he does accept the help and more people can get involved in what would be THE event of the year in the Adult Industry calender!!

Well Done Phil!

The Oscars have their little teething problems each year, let alone a small, first-time event like this one.

Given the time and budget constraints, I wasn't expecting too much, just hoping for a fun evening. As it was the event exceeded my expectations and Phil deserves congratulations.

The only negative: I'm a daily Guardian reader but the write-up they gave was the worst kind of crap, sneering journalism that I'd normally expect to find in the gutter press.

No matter how polished that evening was was it going to get a positive write up from a newspaper like The Guardian. The Sport and the lads mags would be more favourable. I dont think anyone should have expected otherwise...and through it all I still feel it is a step in the right direction.

We cant hide behind what we are all about, sex, excess and all the things the adult industry celebrates that highlights the hypocrisy of the world. I think thats where Erotica went wrong. Did they really think this should be a quiet dignified affair????

Thank the big guy up above that no one kicked in with an acceptance speech of saving the dolphins and mum and dad and such like. Hell even Ben Dover was entertaining and he didnt even get his cock out!

...well, except Alicia who won best anal scene/ performer and said....'mother would be so proud' Now that s the stuff of a great evening.

I said it once and il say it again...

I would have totally disaapointed, not only in phil, but my fellow industry people if this had been stiff upper lip and dignified affair.

This is PORN not Childrens TV!

Yeah there was mistakes, 90% of them forgivable as a learning curve, my only real gripe was PR... The rest is just personal choice!

I think it was said before that alot of the work for the Awards was done in about two months and the PR company were only bought in at the last minute unfortunately, so time was against them. I am sure next year the PR machine will be in motion in plenty of time, people will know what the Awards are all about from attending this year and will be willing to advertise it on their sites. I am sure many of the model's sites next year will have links on them for their fans!

I wonder if the guy who originated this thread actually WENT to the awards like I and many of us who post on here did?
His complaints seem to be centred around the fact that, one week after the event, the website hasn't been updated - big deal!
I'm guessing the organisers have had other things on their minds, not least returning to their day jobs!
I echo what's been said above - great night, maybe some scope for improvement on one or two levels but a bloody good, enjoyable first effort, and pats on the backs to all concerned.
And I'm going to go further, once the dust has settled, and phone up and volunteer help with publicity or whatever to make next year's even better.

Coolcat,

I commented to that effect, The industry should help make this work, its in all our interests to make this big. Website Banners, Forum Links, Chat Rooms, all places we can help with.
