I think the problem is the lovely Lynda can't access any newsgroups nor for that matter can I.

Lynda can now access alt.binaries.fan.televisionx. There are various ways round the problem including those mentioned in the FAQ and in the thread above by JHseeker. Or if you are willing to pay for a news service -

which I normally use to post pictures as I use demon surftime and demon does not allow the posting of binaries to non-bineries groups, though it does let you see and downlaod the pictures - or adding a free ISP - there's no technical reason why you can't use more than one ISP - and www.zoom.co.uk carries alt.fan.televisionx and allows posting and downloading of pictures to and from it.

Thamks for the reply. I did almost get in via the method above but when I clicked on "Subscribe" it began downloading 3250 "sites" and 120 took about half an hour so I gave up on that. I use Outlook Express on an iMac when i used Eudora on an ordinary Mac I was able to access newsgroups - words only no pics! I am obv just unlucky...

check whetehr you have set it to download headers only or bdies. It's headers only you want - then you can choose which ones to get the message bodies for.
