2257 question

Post by dom number one »

Is 2257 just for usa producers and sites or do UK and European outfits also have to comply?

If im based in Europe but my site is hosted in the states must i comply?

What about this, if my company is based in Europe, my site is hosted in the states, and i also sell usa producers content through my site?

Is my conception of 2257 correct?

1) photo copies of the performers passports.
2) Signature that they understand the material will be published or broadcast and that they are above 18.

Is there anything else?

See which gives you an overview of 2257 and which gives you a clear view of what has changed in 2257

Thanks Patrick,

This was very helpful.

I love fliming, editing, photgraphy and everything else included in my production. But one thing i cant stand is paperwork.

Following the precedent set by the case of the "Nat West Three", a breach of Title 18, 2257, in material which enters US territory e.g in transit through a server, could result in extradition of the producer to face trial in the US.

Yes, or no?

My understanding of extradition is that the offence must exist in both countries. 2257 is a relatively minor record-keeping law which does not exist in the UK.

Another thing to consider is that 2257 says that the records must be kept at your place of business and available for inspection by the US authorities. Since the US authorities have no jurisdiction in the UK they would never know if you were complying or not - and you are certainly not obliged to carry them around with you if you enter the USA.

rgb I know them well as you might be aware, they got done over because some of the girls parents complained they were underage. The tapes/DVD's in question were shot at mardi gras etc and the distributer/producer are in deep shit with this. The 2257 in this case is a small part of a big puzzle. They are praying to keep out of jail with it and they might be on to a looser with it. got my Hi-Def box here if you want to look at my boards,

I always wondered how the Mardi Gras stuff was done, Dream Girls, GM films. how do they get model releases and proof of age while they are just filming girls partying in the street or in clubs?

The guys at Girls Gone Wild have had defended and won a tonne of legal cases for years. Have they lost any cases recently? If so I would really like to know (and must have missed them in the news) and any links would be really appreciated.

Cheers
