good dv camcorder?

hey guys,

just wanted to say i went and got the Canon MV960, This might sound stupid but how do i get the video off the camera and onto my computer? i have installed the software and have the usb lead connected but nothing happens when i turn the camera on, ive tried to use movie maker to grab the videos off the camera but that dont work either

DBS you got my camcorder! She's a hunny

I use firewire DBS on the MAC with Final Cut Pro or the awesome iLIFE6 pack using the iMOVIE HD app. I do like pro s/ware rather than the rubbish that comes with the camera..

Have you got any decent editing s/ware on your PC?

i got vegas 6.0 and pinnacle.

the stuff on the cd that came with the camera is shit ive opened all the programs and nothing seems to happen. i got the camera connected to the pc its turned on camera is set to play but nothing happens on the pc? and when i tried to capture the video using windows movie maker the only camera that shows up is my webcam?

did u have this problem

No probs what so ever with FCP or iMOVIE HD on the MAC - straight plug in and sorted !happy! - Apple ROCKS!!

However, I dont use pinnacle etc., so I cannot advise really?
Nothing in the App. menu regards importing or camera types or set-up?

na i have no idea whats going on here, ive tried 3 programs,

all leads are connected, camera is on but no software can detect the camera anoying as hell

Have you checked the setting in the programme you're using to import the vid ?

I've found Pinnacle seems to change from 4:3 PAL to 16:9 NTSC some times... LOL. Have you set the import for the lead you're using.. This can be over looked.

im trying with movie maker i want to keep it simple to start off with but movie maker only picks up my webcam and not the mv960

DBS - I will try on my PC next to my MAC using the USB Leads and do it on moviemaker.. I'lll get back to you

Movie Maker is the worst of the worst.. Try Pinnacle next :)
