Hopefully this clears up the access to sites situation...
If you join a site you will get access to that site content for a month. If you continue membership you will then get access to all the other sites until you expire your membership.
In short "loyal customers get the best value around for new and fresh content"

You make a really good point there and one that I will take up with Netpond on Monday morning.
As well as putting together the new sites, we have also changed the members areas for all of the original sites as well. We have a new content management system and added more picture sets etc. So I have a feeling that Netpond will need to change all existing members to the new members area, then all the code for "cross site access" can then be put in place shortly after that.
