Director/Camera man

Post by Chewing_chicken »

Hello

I'm a fully qualified camera operater and have a decent showreel of music videos and other work that I have done camera and directing work on. I am looking for some work in the adult industry as a camera operator or director. Are there any tips on a way too start, or is there anyone interested in seeing my stuff? I am also a member of the Directors Guild of Great britain. I have some shoot kit as well if that will help.

on the contrary he sounds like he has got just what is needed to make a few quid.a lot of people think all you need is 2 birds ,a camcorder and you are going to make a pile of shit in your front room that people are going to pay top dollar for

nope reckon you have it wrong there but if he had all the gear with plenty of idea and the cash to shoot his own stuff then he just might be what the industry needs. it already has too many migrants from other industries and now needs people with drive and ambition enough to put their personal cash on the line. the weekendographers are what as spanered the industry

Dont tell me how good you are, show me.

My opinion

Post by Chewing_chicken »

I don't want to offend anyone but I do have an opinion on the state of british porn. There is a difference between a pro director and someone who wants to get their willy pulled cause their is a hot chick in the room. A pro Director wants to tell a story or capture a moment.

Not everyone is in the position to fund their career and the point is as valid as saying if you want to make the next Harry Potter or Bond film don't submitt your showreel and CV fund it yourself.

I don't understand why British porn has yet to make the transition that the Germans, Japanese, french and USA have in their production quality. From what I have seen Anna Span is the most creative person so far followed by the people behind Anjali Kara and Alonzo Shaft. Production value is about knowing the equipment and making the choices that make the quality of that production come out to the best of your budget. Not point shot and pray.

My first step into porn centred around a solo girl film lasting just under 20 minutes. It took me 4 hours and about 2 hours of footage to edit together the 20 minutes. I was happy with the results and contacted a company in Holland.
They got back to me and said they really liked my work and thought the production values were high. The problem for them was, it simply was not hardcore enough and suggested approaching television companies. Reading this you make get the impression that i had created some sort of Sky TV special, all acting with nothing on show. Well what i had created did show full nude and dildo action. The good news is, this section has now become 1 of 5 sections for a full 1hour and 20minutes film that has action more hardcore than simply a dildo.

as is said what the british adult film industry does not need is more bad examples of weekend morographers. get a bank loan and make a film and then even better try to sell it but id sugest re thinking your icons

thats a similar experience to me corona, after the surprising success of Virtual Sex with Michelle Thorne and Alicia Rhodes, Angel Long, Bobbi Eden, Sara Nice and McKenzie Lee, I got sick of making films that made other companies mega dosh and decided to do my own with a friend, we made 'Sins of the Flesh' for a couple of grand in a mates flat in Parsons Green.

It got a nomination at this years AVN's (personally from the AVN Editor I later found out) for 'Best Foreign Feature' didnt win it but got some incredible offers from a Major US production house and they are flying me out to LA next month to Direct my first feature with their newest contract girl !

and all for a couple of grand in a non descript flat in Parsons Green.

so if that aint proof that anyone can do whatever they want in this game if they set their mind to it then I dont know what is !
