For those of you unawares, Van Den Pupp (pronounced 'poop') is a tubby and utterly raging fashion designer who fronts the latest IKEA ad campaign, who's sole goal in life is to destroy IKEA and their tasteful, low-priced wares in favour of his garish, over-priced Elton John-esque creations.

It's a PARODY....they are using IRONY to market themselves, as the poster named VanDenPupp is doing for Jim Slip.

Christ...time was when it was only the Yanks who didn't get irony...have we become so humourless so quickly?


Having said that, I went shopping at IKEA once, and it was shit. Never again!

Having shown originality in the presentation and style of their advertising, is Ikea now demonstrating some creativity in placing those adverts?
I think so. They've identified us as a niche group and planted the seed of thought that if we let the missus have the credit card, she'll be off to a furniture superstore and give us a couple of hours peace in front of the telly etc this afternoon. Oh well, this is the promotions forum.
