Canon XL-1 DV Camera advice sought

Post by JackHorny »

I've been offered a second-hand canon XL-1 with a few extras for what appears to be a good price (given the number of extras included) HOWEVER - it is an NTSC model.

Noting dodgy involved - the seller is actually an American citizen now resident over here in the UK.

I'm wondering what the drawbacks/implications are of the NTSC model - I'm not the most clued up person on these matters, but I suspect that if I download the material from the camera to a computer - the NTSC factor is actually irrelvant - the format of the finished material is dictated by the way I output the material FROM the computer post edit - how I chooset o burn it to DVD?

Would welcome any advice.

Forget getting NTSC. You can get good bargains on ebay these days from official resellers for XL1 as many professionals are selling them to raise money for buying XL2s

.. Samsung and RedTriangle; your advice is much appreciated - I suppose I'll pass this offer over! Thanks again.

The NTSC thing IS an issue, even if you stay digital throughout. If you are selling to PAL market keep it PAL.

As the other have said there are some great second hand cams about or go for a nice Sony PD170 - they are being superseded by HD and should come down in price.

Good Luck!!
