Where did all the magic go?

Post by dozzy »

I think that modern porn industry is becoming more and more boring. They just don't know or want to do an interesting porn movie. Every movie starts with direct sex scene; there is no story, no eroticism, just plain fucking. I am pissed off when i see a movie with 4,5 beautiful girls - but every scene is practically the same. For example; i saw a numerous films where they have sexy girls, but the scene is boring (the girls wears nothing,...)

I am trying to say that if you compare movies like Mario Salieri with others, there is actually no comparison. Mario Salieri's films are the best! He knew how to make ecellent porn, girls were sexy, movie had a story, and even if some girls weren't as beautiful, he know how to make them sexy. But since Mario Salieri had retired there is great emptiness in porn.

So do you know any production that is similar to Salieri's? Plese tell me.

I agree with much of what you say.

I suppose the films that appear on the Marc Dorcel label by directors such as Herve Bodilis and Alain Payet are the closest you'll get to the Salieri style these days. But even these aren't quite as good, generally speaking. For example:

1) Some of the settings are a bit too "grandiose" for my liking
2) The lighting is poor in some scenes.
3) Condoms are frequently used for penetration (which seems pointless really when the guy whips the rubber off for the cum-shot and sprays it into the girl's mouth or onto her gaping pussy).
4) The girls are for the most part gorgeous. But maybe TOO perfect-looking - if that makes sense! Add that to the grandiose settings (like sex being performed on ornate, antique sofas in massive rooms inside ostantatious stately homes) and the whole thing becomes less "real-world" and so more difficult to relate to.

Just my thoughts.

I couldnt agree with Dozzy and Flat Eric more, I too find the porn nowadays too predictable and boring, therefore still watch the old movies from the 80's and 90's made by Dorcel, Salieri etc etc.
The actresses they used then might not have been the most attractive but sure to hell could fuck and looked like they genuinely enjoyed it!!
My favourite actresses are:
Anita Rinaldi
Maeva
Eva Falk
Fovea
Dalila
Tracey Adams ( I know she's not European)
Solange
Dolly Golden
Joy Karin's (Not the best looking but extremely sensous and sexy)
Helen Duval
Keisha
Anita Blond
Magella

To name but a few, (didn't realise I like so many women!!!), I think these women were the creme de la creme, and thoroughly enjoyed their performances in all their films.
Also I loved the costumes they used, I dont like women getting fucked bare naked, I need at least stockings and heels, and preferably a tight skirt pulled up , suspenders, and panties pulled to one side while they take a cock. As long as I see tits/ass/pussy in their glory dont mind whether the rest is covered. Finally I have a strange fetish about wacky coloured stockings like the turquoise ones Megan Leigh wears in one of the Foxy Lady series, that really got me going, was wondering if anyone has this fetish??
Well thats what I like if anyone has similar interests, get in touch with me and we could trade/chat porn, its always interesting hearing from fellow pervs, until then take care and enjoy the porn!!!

I like the movies from Luca Damiano, specially his versions from other
movie clasics (Lust on the Orient expres, Marco Polo or Hamlet) or his fairytales (Three little pigs, Snowhite or Beauty and the beast)

Interesting choice and a very interesting point. I also like Joy Karin's, and Laura Valerie (one of my personal favourites) is another one I'd describe in the same way.

I think that where most porn producers go wrong these days is that they seem to think that "perfect pretty" = "sexy". But it ain't necessarily so!

Obviously you don't want women with faces like a smacked arse. But at the same time, the constant diet of silcone-enhanced blonde Barbie dolls and flawless "All American" girls in their early 20s is nothing short of tedious, particularly when (a) they're pretty much always completely naked and (b) they radiate practically zero sexuality or sensuality and look like the whole thing is just a chore rather than enjoyable.

These days, when I visit one of my local "bricks & mortar" DVD rental stores or porn emporiums (and there's no shortage of them here in Germany), I leave empty-handed. Because (judging from the covers on display) they have absolutely nothing I want to see. Whereas 20, 10 or even 5 years ago, I could usually find something. It's a sorry state of affairs.

Just read this discussion and need some time to come to my opinion. I'm looking porn for over 30 years. My grandfather enjoyed his holidays in Denmark when I was at the age of 10. My interests when my grandparents are not at home is a kind of ?investigation? what's behind the closed cabinets ... loool (yes, Colorclimax stuff)

My opinion about (mostly german) porn movies:
Through the years I watched many porn movies and as the iron curtain opened in 1990 all turns over to simple penetration without a story. A lot of people who have the same interest in vintage porn have their marks before and after 1990. After 1990 you saw a lot of girls who were young and looking real good. They were cheap and interested to get the money with everything what is possible and in every position. The only mistake: They cannot speak english or german and ?real story? with them were too expensive. At the same time cameras were going to be affordable for everybody and a lot of unemployed people meant it's a good idea to become a producer. So the whole market was flodded with uninteresting porn-movies and -actresses by uncountable ?producers?. So since these days the whole magic had gone.

But unfortunately the consumers thought it's a great idea to have 8 or 9 scenes instead of 4 or 5 and bought these bullshit. So the market goes as a market must go: The producers were doing a lot more of this ugly stuff to satisfy their customers. To think ?The whole magic is gone? today is a result of this rubbish ?producers?.

One or two years ago most people didn't know Brigitte Lahaie or Uschi Karnat, but through the internet and the new ?freehosters? most of the actresses of the 70's and 80's became the fame they should deserved years ago. Today we are in the great position to watch everything we wanted to watch. We can order old movies from everwhere through the internet-distributors, pay-sites or over via p2p.

For me it's not a miracle why we think the magic has gone. It's just because we can compare now and decide what we wanted to watch: A good story with real actresses, a director who knew what he did, nice dialogues, real good light and outstanding locations which were filmed with 36 mm cameras - or watching 8 girls fucking with 8 boys without a dialogue, filmed on a poor handycam in an appartement in Eastern-Berlin? Think about the GGG-stuff. This is the greatest rip off and the greatest bullshit I ever saw.

I decided to watch quality porn. And I find this stuff in the seventies and eighties movies from France, Skandinavia (even CC-loops have more story than today's porn), Germany (Hans Bilian for example) or anywhere else. And that's the reason why I'm here and feel well ;-)

Lou, I think you've hit the nail on the head about 1990 and the fall of the Iron Curtain.

That was indeed a watershed year. Take Teresa Orlowski's production company VTO for example: Up to 1989, VTO was a byword for quality porn. But from 1990 onwards, the quality of the material produced by the VTO stable nose-dived rapidly to the point where it was just utter garbage.

I don't even know if VTO still exists as a going concern (does anybody know?).

These days it's all about quantity not quality, and Eastern European Barbie dolls. There are very few genuinely sexy actresses any more.
