Interesting listening to the Today programme this morning. They had a Conservative Advisor saying what a terrible position the Tories and Mrs May are now in.

They can not get rid of Mrs May because they have just got themselves into the position where they are in a minority government (and will remain so unless they can cobble up some agreement with the DUP).

If they were to get rid of Mrs M, they will be in a position where they are a minority government with a Prime Minister who wasn't elected by anyone. That's trouble piled on trouble.

On the other hand, though the longer Mrs May's stays the more the Conservative party is damaged by her remaining PM.

And of course all the while the remains of this charred 24-storey tower block is sticking up in the middle of London as a monument to the Conservative legacy.

Her potential successors are all doing exactly as she did during the eu referendum ie keeping a very low profile. Corbyn needs to get a no confidence vote tabled very quickly. If the tories are allowed to install a new leader he will only get a majority of 20-30 in a second general election. If she is the leader of the tories in a second election he gets a majority of 45-65.

I also read that Conservative MPs are now referring to Theresa as "the Caretaker Prime Minister".

there's no doubt that there is going to be a leadership election very, very soon but whoever replaces her is going to have to call a general election and they will still lose badly. She's already pulled her next dictator trick by cancelling next years queens speech in case she lost a vote on it mid brexit. But there is no way she'll still be there then anyway.
