Hadlow Tower up for sale

Hadlow Tower in Kent, location for quite a few adult videos over the years, including one I shot, is up for sale. You may have seen some of the films shot there. Think Gothic windows, baronial fireplaces, dungeon and stained glass. Ive certainly seen a Ben Dover video that used it.



It was in a pretty terrible state when I shot there; I dont think the fetish parties they held there nor location fees charged, raised enough to do much in the way of repairs. It was beautifully restored in later years but the charity that bought it has got into financial difficulties and are having to sell it.

My shooting there was before low wattage flourescent/led film lighting so I was using redheads and a blonde which invariably blew a fuse as the wiring was ancient. We had to get a portable genny which would strain if I turned on more than a couple of lights. Sadly the rather good finished video, if I say so myself, was never commercially released due to circumstances way out of my concern.

I know it well as i live in Kent and it did have a reputation as a place that was porn friendly, i think it had a lot to do with the gorgeous girls who talked estuary a lingo derived from Kent & Essex who lived either side of the Thames Estuary and not all but many were quite happy to do porn, and of course with not to far to travel it became a porn icon.

I expect the National Trust will take it over and sadly that will mean the end of porn shoots at that location..

Its use as a porn location ended some years ago when it was taken over and restored by the Vivat Trust. They did a cracking job on though, it must be said.

I think we shot the orgy scene at the end of Anal Clinic there back in '93 with Mr Lindsay Honey at the helm, great times with some of the best girls to ever grace porn, Lisa Thorpe, Julia Chanel, Jill Sampson...

Bit before my time. I loved it as a location despite the issues when trying to shoot there: keep the noise down (it was a rather heavy BDSM shoot), dont have too many lights on at the same time, trace all the windows so the neighbours cant see whats going on, no close parking......happy days.

Apparently the Heritage Lottery Fund have stated that if the tower isn't made available to the public they will be seeking a refund for the money they gave toward the restoration, so maybe it will still be available for a film shoot, not to sure about a porno shoot.

Maybe we should crowd fund the purchase of the tower keep it open for public use and filming, and as porn isn't illegal this would include shooting legal adult films.

It is the tallest foley in the UK with iconic views not far from London and close to mainline rail connections, it would be sad if some private buyer snaps it up and makes it their own. !sad!

I did some great scenes there
