It's a girl for Kate and Wills...
Congratulations to Kate and William on the arrival of their new daughter, born at 8.34am today at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. Speculators are saying she might be named Victoria or Elisabeth, but no one knows for sure yet. Congrats to them!

One of thousands of babies born in the UK today, and no more or less special to the parents than all the others. Nice for them and I wish them no ill, but really I can never fathom why so many otherwise sensible folk (who the royals don't know from Adam, much less care a stuff about) get all dewey-eyed and gushy over royal babies. And don't get me started on the saddos who camp out for days outside the hospital. Have they nothing better to do? Don't they have familes of their own? Do they not have jobs?

Hmmm, not quite sure how you work that out. Whether you are a republican or royalist, it is undoubtedly true that the baby will bring millions of pounds into the economy through tatty souvenirs, tourism, fashion, photographs and much more.

Interesting comments, I personally think its a good thing for the nation, takes our minds off the boring Election coverage anyway. I work quite near to St Mary's Hospital, in the Baker Street area, and there have been people outside the hospital for days. I was surprised Kate left the hospital so soon after giving birth. I wonder what they will call her...

Are they going to be consulting Katie Hopkins with regards to naming the baby?
