More likely that once he's had enough of his 'gap year' he'll decide he wants to come home, pull out the 'brainwashed' card which will be believed without question by the 'right-on' gang who will spout the usual, "These people are victims too" bullshit.

He'll be given 'treatment' for his mental condition, and after serving a short sentence in a cat D prison, will be on speed dial at the BBC for Question Time and Newsnight.

What he really needs is a .50 cal through the head.

We have need of you again, great king.

Lets try and keep a level head with all this madness shall we?

Suddenly its all about David Johnson. Shall we name the OT the BGAFDOTFABDJ???

There is no brainwashed card to pull once he has gone on the internet and executed people in a way that is simply grotesque. if we werent so civic minded, we wouldve hauled his entire family onto the street and done the same with chainsaws and played netball live on the BBC if we really wanted to get nasty about it

But we are not animals like them,

We are not hateful like them

We are better than that in that we can think there is a problem here that needs to be dealt with

No one is making excuses for Emwazi but many people are trying to understand what makes a seemingly decent person take up arms against people and live in a war torn country.

By trying to understand this is what sets the thinking man apart from those who refuse to understand and perpetuate the hate when the thinking man is trying to find ways of avoiding another 100 Mohammed Emwazis.

Already the problem has uncovered plots to behead soldiers and policemen.

if in life we are to see our enemies in only one way is it any wonder why we never seem to resolve these conflicts

If anyone thinks it cannot be done then I seem to remember the IRA was ourt biggest threat before these guys and half the motives behind the hate was simple hatred.

Theres a lot of work to be done but there are those, including those on here who just want to hit back. That time has passed. We need to find a new way or just accept we are promulgating more innocent civilians to become ISIS update beheadings of the week.

They did it but do you think its not on us and our attitudes too. There is more to this than that executiioner.

He'll get his though i can bet money on the bookies on that.

On another note. Try looking at it from your enemies perspective then ask how far you would go if you lived in a situation where you say your people back home suffering?

Its very easy to kill someone if you dont see them as human like you

This is a difficult one.

On the one hand I have always opposed the invasion of Iraq, the long term involvement in Afghanistan and the bombing to bits of Libya. I felt that it would create more problems than were solved and I think I have been proved right. Who feels safer on the streets of Britain now after 15 years of the "war on terror"?

So I think it is important to understand the role of the West's actions in creating these terrorist forces ranged against us. Would ISIS exist in Iraq if Saddam not been deposed? I don't think so.

On the other hand, I think there is a tendency to go overboard with the desire to "understand". In the case of Jihadi John we have a guy who apparently came to the attention of the Security Services. Now if the Security Services were over the top in their hassling of someone who felt themselves to be innocent, I can see how a hatred might build up for those Security Services and the government that sanctions their activities. What I do not see is how that led to a capability to slaughter charity workers and journalists.

Sometimes people's actions are totally inexplicable. The guy from the good home, successful at college who picks up a girl and kills her in a premeditated way. Why? Something in their upbringing? Often it is just inexplicable.

So yes, we should try to understand the implications of our government's actions but in the immortal words of Woody Allen

"You don't argue with fascists. You hit them over the head with baseball bats"

Wow. Me and David have hardly been buddies this past few years but what a fucking shitty thing to say. Go seek therapy.

I used to spend a lot of time criticizing Islam on here in the noughties - but things are much better now.

"Me and David have hardly been buddies this past few years "

Well the overwhelming number of your posts I agree with. Its only two topics: the Lib Dems and your "I hate Islam" line that I have not agreed with as far as I can recall.

You have always struck me as someone with a good heart, Sam, which counts for a lot.

I'm surprised none of the head clowns have jumped on this and promoted the re-introduction of hanging, drawing and quartering for his actions, as part of their manifesto. Maybe Arginald should be the man with the knife and rope and also to burn his privy parts and entrails before him, or should we just give him a nice prison cell with a prayer mat and halal meat?

David:

i remember the world was elated when Saddam was hanged and humiliated. It satisfied a smug bloodlust for revenge that we saw with muslims in 9/11

I also remember a friend saying that Saddam, as bad as he is was actually keeping the real scum bags in jail. The ones we assumed we were rescuing were indeed the same ones that came back as ISIS

I have no proof to substantiate what I am about to say but I'm a say it anyway...This isnt cut and dried about the persecution of the young, innocent wide eyed Mohammed Emwazi

Sometimes i wonder if these people that act against our own country are in collusion with people to keep it that way.

Why do I say this? because the executions of aid workers are low profile targets designed to get the Wests backs up to support air strikes in those countries.

I will accept the usual chorus of "bollocks!" but deep down this is how I feel. Ive learned from my own past examples that some stupid things dont always end up being that stupid after all. it was just dumb enough to fool everyone else with because it was ridiculous in the first place.

I, deep down think we are being played like a fiddle by our governments or at least by those acting for them. i dont think everyone in MI5 are to blame but i do think one hand doesnt now what the other is doing
