Yep, still room for improvement but a definite one in the eye for all those corporate funded right wing think tanks that slag off the NHS.
A kick up the arse for all those UKIPers who robotically accuse the NHS for being hopelessly managed and inefficient.
Top tios for running the NHS.
1 Stop having huge reorganisations every parliament. Most politicians couldn't run a bath never mind a large organisation. Most UKIPers couldn't find the bath to attempt to run it.
2. Give nurses and doctors their pay rises instead of year on year pay cuts when set against inflation. Did they or the investment bankers cause the financial collapse?
3. Put some more money into the NHS rather than asking it to make the biggest cuts it has ever been asked to make.

4. Stop letting hoards of immigrants in to the country, putting a strain on services.

Presumably you dont take a European Health Insurance Card with you when you go on holiday over the Channel. After all you wouldn't want those countries to have to pay for treating a foreigner under the reciprocal arrangement that benefits us all.

Which is probably why politicians should be allowed to run anything ... ever.

The two aren't linked but who is going to argue against that?

Rather than just pouring more money in, surely there should be root and branch reform? Otherwise you are just pouring money into a bottomless pit. The NHS was never designed to cope with a population of more than 60million and rising.

What about those who can't afford private health care? Would you want them to be left untreated if they had an accident on holiday?

Presumably those who can afford a holiday here can afford to take out travel insurance?

Re: NHS is the best Healthcare system.
That doesn't answer my question.
Surely the most important thing to all of us, regardless of social status, sex, race, sexuality or age, is our health.
Surely then, we, as a 'civilised society' can team up with other civilised societies and provide free healthcare across our borders for those that need it. What can be more civilised than that?
It's not like people purposely break there legs to take advantage of the NHS.....jeez.

Re: NHS is the best Healthcare system.
As a Brit living abroad - and one who often compares the UK unfavourably
with other places as in a recent piece on violence in the streets - I must say
the NHS remains a jewel in the crown. Successive Govts fuck with it, the
benefits that Lord Beveridge wanted us all to enjoy get whittled away, but
the NHS is still an amazing machine. Live - as I did - for 7 years in the USA
and see what health care costs you....or risk yourself in an East European
state hospital (private health care here is as good as England but the public
sector is so bad that half a hospital fell down here in Hungary not so long
ago). God bless the NHS. You Brits are bloody lucky, but you whinge too
much to see often just how lucky you really are !
