Just back of holidays and find lots been happening in London and not good.
Islington has cancelled the licenses of 3 porno cinemas, a social club in Holloway has twice a month a evening with naked waitresses they have been warned off. The adult parties in Chiswick have also ended because the organiser was warned off, two pubs that have stag nights have been told no more and in Soho lots of walk ups have been raided, a guy who has organises erotic art classes has also had to stop and talking to a couple who use Rio?s they think it may lose its licence.
Wonder why this happens, thought if it did it would have been before the Olympics

I think you'll find this kind of clampdown has been going on for decades. The newer targets are lads mags and internet porn.

Islington is not renewing the licenses of 3 porno cinemas as you say, but that's because they were found to have breached the terms of their licences in numerous ways.

As for Soho, yes there was a major police operation recently and many premises were raided, but raids in Soho are not exactly new are they? This was w as the result of an investigation lasting 18 months, so it's surely not connected to the other items you mentioned?

Three lapdancing clubs have to close in Leeds by the end of the week because the council has changed the basis on which licences are given and another has only been given a six month one. Hardly porn but it looks like the Mary Whitehouse brigade is back.

Islington and Leeds are Labour controlled councils though, applying licensing legislation passed by a Labour government.
