Employment Tribunals
Re: Number 6/Jonone/Gentleman
According to Wikipedia he has a personal interest in the Wonga business. Probably hopes people will borrow money from Wonga to start tribunal proceedings.

"Basically they are bringing in fees with regard to employment tribunals. So if you get the push from your employer and you think it is a case of unfair dismissal you have to pay ?250 just to lodge the claim and ?950 if the case goes ahead. Obviously at this point you won't know whether you are going to win the case or not".

All done to make it easier to sack employees.

The harder you cum. The more you enjoy it.

Re: Employment Tribunals
25 years ago I was active within the Trades Union movement as shop steward/deputy works convenor and was sent on courses for Industrial Law legislation at the same time as my immediate manager was doing the same from the employers perspective. Every Tuesday morning I would be invited into his office so he could impart to me his latest little snippet. 25 years ago the prevailing thought was that the manager had to weigh up the pros and cons of giving someone the order of the boot. For instance even then the stats for winning a tribunal was something like 1 in 10, so that was a pro, and the average pay-out was a little under 2 grand. So if it was worth 2 grand to dump someone when the odds were 1 in 10 in your favour go ahead and do it.
He seemed quite smug at this as though he held that power over me and every one else in the department, until I said that if he tried that stunt with me he would end up in a wheelchair, to which he asked if that was union policy? No mate that's my policy!
Not all Thatcher's anti union laws were left unscathed but Blair was more Thatcherite than Thatcher, so most was left in place, and my final disenchantment with "New" Labour ended the moment they abandoned Clause 4 along with my party membership card.
And of course the Tories always will support employers against the employees, it's what they do, their whole reason for being! I am now retired through ill-health and I now get to see all their dirty tricks first hand, ATOS for a start, being told by a Pole that there's nothing wrong with me I find rather galling!
