Max Tranmere is the one you want to talk to. He's part of the Twitterati with thousands of Twitterers thankful for every tweet.

I've never been able to understand the limited text space thing. 160 characters or whatever it is. You spend more time trying to shorten what you've just written to try and get it into the space than you did writing it.

"How are things, did you have a good weekend?" becomes "How r things, did u hav a gud wkend?".

I've never got to the bottom of why it's 160 characters and not, say, 200. Or 180 for that matter. Even better, make it unlimited like Facebook or emailing. I tried getting into it a couple of years ago then gave up.

I've told you this before. Do you have a bad memory?

When twitter first started the idea was to make sure tweets could be sent to mobile phones via text messaging. The character limit on texts was 160 characters.

Can you be as much of a twat in under 160 characters, though, Arginald? I think you'd pull it off.
