Favourite/best lead singer
Ok, following on from the 'best guitarist' thread, I thought I'd ask who peoples' favourite lead singers are. And I'm not talking about just a solo artist. I'm thinking more like a singer of a band.
First name that comes to my mind is a young Robert Plant. His range and attitude do it for me. However, Steve Winwood has a really soulful voice that just pips Plant imho. Very underrated.

Good one.
There's a theme here: curly hair.

Continuing the curly hair theme, Sammy Hagar.
Excellent solo career.
Excellent with Van Halen (much better than Diamond Dave Lee Roth).
Excellent with the Warboritos (a little side project).
Excellent with Chickenfoot (a nice link with best guitarist namely Joe Satriani).
He's 65 this year and can rock the socks of some of the youngsters out there.

A good call for Sammy Hagar, most underrated man.
For quality of voice Paul Ridgers and Freddie Mercury.
For being the ideal front man Bon Scott (RIP).
For energy Bruce Dickinson.

Freddy Mercury without doubt. He would have left all of the previously named standing still. He could have pissed all over them from a distance. Forget his pecadillos and his untimely death, he was The Champion !!

You've got to admit Queen made Live Aid. They blew that place apart from the first note.

Another vote for Freddie Mercury, best lead singer ever. Just listen when someone tries covering a Queen song, nobody can get near him vocally.

I will add Ozzy Osborne for stage presence and Ian Gillan for sheer vocal talent.
