The Tory party must be lighting candles in thanks to the way the Lib Dem sex scandal and the rumours engulfing the senior Catholic cleric in the UK take the news of the credit rating downgrade of the front page.
Osborne has spent two and a half years arguing that we need austerity to preserve our credit rating and therefore confidence in the UK economy.
After two and half years in power he came to the House of Commons today and argued that now we have been downgraded we need more austerity to avoid further downgrades.
Oh and his other main point was that it is all the Labour government's fault that we have been downgraded. I don't recall him thanking Labour when the UK government got taken off negative watch early in the coalition government's time. That was down to Osborne and Cameron's brilliant economic management.
