It's already been pointed out that it's a question which will be irrelevant soon.
There might be a brief window of opportunity for a hardcore TV service again, but the future is here already. Anyone who wants to watch porn can do so, at any time, and almost anywhere.

I've got a mini dish pointed at hotbird at the moment and have a 6mth viaccess card for 12 hardcore channels. I only wanted the card for the 3 HD channels, Hustler HD, Redlight HD, and SCT HD. The card cost ?50 off ebay.

SteveB That bit Im cool with. technology has made that happen but I seriously doubt you'll see hard core on Skys epg.

Just because you can plug it into your TV doesnt mean its available on TV. OFCOM just wouldnt allow it and it would negate alltheir efforts with ATVOD whose position will be clouded even more since it is there to "protect the children from viewing innappropriate content"
Some will argue you can have all the age verifications and firewalls you want but there will never be any guarantee a minor could circumvent these parental controls in place.
besides being on terrestrial TV will be seen as making it more accessible from a critics point of view

I do wonder how long TV channels, as we know them, will be around for now?
With TV channels, it's up to the scheduler to decide what you watch and when, but we've been "time shifting" since the VCR was invented and now, with more channels launching their own internet services (iPlayer, 4oD, etc.) people have even greater opportunity to watch what they want, when they want.
Are the days of the TV channel format numbered?

TV channels and Sky will always reign supreme because it has upped its game in brilliant content that costs money to produce that will never be replicated by the likes of YouTube which in effect superceded IPTV in terms of everyone running their own channel from their bedrooms and offices

I'm not talking about content, it was always cost money to produce good content and (within reason) you'll get better content if you spend more money.
What I'm talking about is delivery to the customer. If the customer pays LoveFilm or NetFlix or SkyGo a fee per month and then watches whatever they want from that service, whenever they want, then is that still a TV channel?
It's a brand certainly, it has logos and advertising and an office with employees and they buy, sell and produce content, but are they still a channel?
At what point will all TV be like that? No schedules decided by someone else, just the consumer paying the supplier a fee.
Netflix and Amazon are already producing content rather than just buying it from others.
