I don`t invent the Law. Who says when a child stops being a "kid" ?
The legal age in Britain is 16. The girl is under-age....but by less than a
year. Nor am I making excuses for a very silly man ! What I am saying
is she will cease to be - under your own country`s Law, "a kid" in just a
few months and can be sexually active without an offence committed in
most of Europe Today !!

Well thats a bit like saying it would be ok to fuck a 10 yr old if the legal age was 11.

I think you missed David's point entirely. No one is asking for this man to be hung, drawn and quartered and Jim's post was OTT.

You appear very confused.

1. Most of the posters on this thread are saying the girl is the victim and the teacher is the criminal.

2. In the UK this is obviously correct and beyond question - however much you blather on about rules elsewhere and emotional guff.

3. Your understanding of British law on this subject is very poor. All teachers are considered to be in a position of trust with regard to their pupils. Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the abuse of a position of trust is a criminal offence. The age of consent for sexual intercourse is ordinarily 16, but this does not apply under this Act. Instead, a person over the age of 18, who is in a position of trust over a person under 18, commits a criminal offence if they involve the younger person in sexual activity. This is to try to prevent people in authority using their power and control to groom or coerce their schoolkids into sexual activity.

4. Another thing that you obviously haven't understood is that concerns were expressed by pupils to teachers at the schools about the relationship in February.about 8 months ago, which obviously opens the way for the girl potentially being 14 or younger when the relationship started. Potentially 4 years or so below the legal age for sexual activity and obviously the teacher would have been aware of this.

5. "Yes, he is silly but I am willing to believe he loves the girl and would not "harm" her in a conventional sense of harm". Thank you for this guess, Frank, we look forward to your forthcoming bodice ripper/knee trembler for Mills and Boon.

6. I suspect that the only people who are talking "emotional tosh" on this thread are you and Slip.

7. Other things that you probably are not aware of or don't understand are: another teacher at Bishop Bell C of E School in Eastbourne which Megan attended, was jailed three years ago for preying on teenage girls after grooming them on a social networking site. He got sent down for 7 years.

8. Earlier this year the school faced more criticism after a retired Anglican priest apparently remained chairman of governors for more than a year after claims of child sex abuse against him came to light.
Canon Gordon Rideout, 73, stayed in his post despite the Church suspending him in 2010 following a Criminal Records Bureau check.
He finally left his position at the school this year and was later charged with 38 sexual offences against 18 children and young teenagers. They allegedly happened between 1962 and 1973, before he was involved at Bishop Bell. He is expected to stand trial next month.

9. A child abuse campaigner stated that the school was extremely hostile when she asked to see their child protection policy after the events related to the sending down of the supply teacher and the situation with the Canon. A former teacher, she had passed on her concerns to Gove and his education department a month ago. THe police had been aware of the situation with Megan a week or so before they did a runner.

10. Given the school appears to have been aware for many months of the above events, do you not think this is a cause for concern?

Finally, when it comes to over-emotional hand-wringing, let's thank fuck, none of the two teachers or the "man of the cloth" are Muslims. Eh?

Otherwise we would never hear the end of vitriolic, incredibly emotional rants about Muslim paedophilia and how governments and schools had done nothing about these three cases for eons because of political correctness.

They are criminals whether Muslim or teachers/priests at a Christian school. Let's get it sorted.

Apparently the French police are saying if they find them he wont be arrested as he hasnt broken any French law, maybe they just consider it to be a crime of passion, if thats the case and the British police want him back then they would have to extradite him unless he comes back voluntary..

The police will be hard pushed tp prove sexual activity unless the girl makes a statement or he admits it.Even though he is teacher they must prove the sexual activity. The offence is going to be one of harbouring or child abduction or something like that. She has not been kidnapped. Not sure when she is 16 but the police in the EU would be even less interested then.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but the age of consent in France is 15, so would this make any difference in a any court case? And under european law is he and his young lover protected?

"maybe they just consider it to be a crime of passion,"

Isn't murdering your wife also a crime of passion?

Funny how things change when you're a teacher: One day, you're taking the register, the next - you're on one.

Forrest's father's worries

Post by David Johnson »

This from the Telegraph re. your point on whether Forrest would be arrested if found in France.

"However, Jean-Philippe Joubert, state prosecutor for Boulogne-sur-Mer, confirmed that a European arrest warrant had been issued and that if found, Forrest would be detained on suspicion of abducting a minor."

And the following is a bit of a worry!

Fears have been expressed for the mental state of Forrest, an amateur musician from Ringmer, near Lewes, whom family have described as vulnerable.

His father, Jim Forrest, who runs an IT business, defended his son, saying that he was not a ?violent or evil? person. But he added: ?We have been worried about him for some time and noticed him going further downhill for more than ? let's just say ? a matter of months. He'd been in a bad state for a long time. ?So we don't understand why the school didn't step in and do anything. We are very disappointed.?
