There's certainly a lot to choose from, but I'll go for 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' - Every frame of that movie is a success!
I'm a fan of John Wayne, too. Never mind what the revisionists say....

Most if not all John Wayne westerns are classics but I would go for tombstone as my favourite. Val Kilmer is superb in it and kurt Russell's best film for me.

Just remembered, Harry Carey Jr was also in Tombstone.
He played the Sheriff who was shot down in the street by Curly Bill (Powers Boothe).

'Rio Bravo' and 'El Dorado' (same story, both John Wayne) are good fun. 'The Wild Bunch' works well, 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' is a genuine classic.
I really enjoy 'Silverado', a proper Hollywood western when no-one else was making them.
'Dances with Wolves' was good and looked even better.
On TV I'm enjoying 'Hell on Wheels'. The second season just started.

"The Good the Bad and the Ugly" it has the best sound track and a great story too, it also has great Cinematography as well. The only thing I didn't/don't like about the film is it goes on too long as many great films do!
