I totally 100% agree with your ramblings. I would like to see Health, Policing, Utilities, Transport, Education etc ALL back in the Public sector. The thing's that stops them working in private hands are greed, corruption, and the need for vast profits. They are run by greedy cunt's for other greedy cunt's, and that's coming from someone who has never had to use public services, and probably never will apart from health maybe one day.
Private Sector v. Public Sector

Yes Lizard I ttally agree, it was only a matter of time and Physical Law, that David would formulate a "Perfect storm" of syllables, words and sentences that would be assembled, by chance and speak some common sense! It could have been now or in 10 light years!
All services that are fundamentally important to the day to day life of people should be in the public sector.
1/ The NHS..............with all the fat cat wasters and New Labour brown noses, sacked and replaced with people who are happy to work for a normal salary.
2/ Electricity & Gas
3/ Water..................This industry need cleansing of private companies who can only plan as far ahead as the next divi share out day. There needs to be planning for the next 20 years for infrastructure to be built built for the mass collection of rainwater.
3/ BT - SHOULD be left in private hands, fast moving high tech industries work better in private hands.
DJ said it was in the Tories DNA to cut public services. Well it was in the old Labour party's DNA to build proper public services that served the public. It was NEW Labour that completely destroyed this noble sentiment. It was New Labour that loaded public services with arse licking managers and fat cats on enormous salaries. So comfortable were these fat cats that they actually used to write their own job descriptions and pass the top jobs amongst themselves!

Re: Just off to Damascus
Got to disagree Lizard as I work with a bunch of ex Council staff who were tupe'd over. They are masters at making excuses, throwing sickies and accepting shoddy work. I can imagine some of he London councils running the project "so your company is perfect for doing the heavy lifting and scaffolding...great references and competitive pricing. However we've given the contract to Butch Dyke Black Gay Illegal Immigrant Cupcake Ltd as they fit our LGBT profile!...and they were more expensive and employed no locals so it was an easy choice. In fact we've paid them up front with council tax money set aside for building schools!!"
Re: Arginald
Having agreed with Lizard, I also find myself also agreeing with you! How about this for a compromise. What about the public sector run by private mamagement, but instead of them answering to shareholders, they answer to us? We get the benefit, we can hire and fire and we can stamp on the fat cats.
Why does the system have to be so black & white? Why can't we pinch the positive bits from the private sector and simply install them into the public sector? Basically, stop selling stuff off, just replace the modern, "public service" mindset, with a private sector mindset and we the tax payers keep the benefits.
Why? because the unions would on cue fuck the whole thing up and of course it is out of sync with the pathetic intransigent dogma of both political parties.
PS Johnsons assertion that Cameron in "Thatcher in a suit" is nonsense, Thatcher was a one off. Didn't Thatcher say, "Tony Blair was my greatest achievement!"
How profound and true that statement was!

"Didn't Thatcher say, "Tony Blair was my greatest achievement!"
SUrprising then that the Tories have blamed New Labour for everything from the global financial collapse to the wet summer, nonstop for the last umpteen years.

Unions
"Why? because the unions would on cue fuck the whole thing up and of course it is out of sync with the pathetic intransigent dogma of both political parties."
This is rubbish. If the unions were so all-powerful, I doubt if they would have allowed the sacking of over 100,000 public sector workers in the last two years.
"Johnsons assertion that Cameron in "Thatcher in a suit" is nonsense"
Once again, you seem to struggle to understand basic English.
What I stated was
"Cameron is just Thatcher in a suit with regard to the public sector. Huge contracts for public sector services are being placed with Virgin Care, G4S and Serco to revolutionise health, policing and social care."
With regard to the public sector their attitude is the same. In other areas of politics, it isn't.

"It was New Labour that loaded public services with arse licking managers and fat cats on enormous salaries."
Once again, you spend your time arguing against yourself. Many of these "fat cats" were recruited from the private sector.
Elsewhere in the thread, like here for example,
http://bgafd.co.uk/forum/read.php?f=3&i=259031&t=259008
you argue
"What about the public sector run by private mamagement, but instead of them answering to shareholders, they answer to us? "
Let us know which Jim Slip wins the argument.
PS Re. "fat cats" in the public sector, it is true to say that these "fat cats" are on starvation wages compared to the directors at companies like back to work provider, A4E who get their revenue almost exclusively from the state.

Doesn't really matter Arginald, ex council staff are a different breed, Ms Liz knows a lot about this stuff, it will always be difficult, a bit like transfering the staff from Poundland to Waitrose. As long as you have good fair but firm Management in place
like there used to be it can be done. Some things just work better when state controlled, and as long as unions are kept in check I dont see the problem, but union leaders as we can see from today's news (strikes during the Olympics games) can be real cynical cunt's
