Glitters come back

Post by tuf766 »

After reading up on the groupies Lori Maddox and Sable Starr, it seems Glitter was in good company with the rest of the rock stars of the 70's.

1) Gary Glitter is not making a comeback.

2) He was never successful in America so I doubt any groupies would have been in the least bit interested in him.

3) I doubt the Mail story is true.

They should give the bugger a break! If he wrote the song and someone wants to use it, he should get a royalty. What makes me laugh is that the media that is run and staffed by the scum of the Earth have the cheek to point the finger at others!

Yet Polanski is still hailed as a Genius, with many big Hollywood names still claiming that his 'persecution' in America is wrong and should be dropped.

Wonder how many people who rant about Glitter still quiet happily watch The Pianist or even sat down with the kids over Christmas to watch Oliver.

Got me thinking about an interview with Roger Daltrey in Q,years ago. He explained that he had to wear a eye patch, during Live Aid because in rehearsal Glitter had thrown his Mic in a hissy fit and hit RG in the face. He said 'If I had known he was a Nonce,I would have fucking killed him'

Yet he continues to tour with Townsend.

The whole thing is fucked up beyond words.

Cheers

Hear hear

It would seem that if you commit a crime, certain parts of the media think that you should never work again.

He co-wrote song in 1972 when no one had ever heard of the internet.

I don't know exactly how true the part about never been successful in America is, but i do know for a fact that the song Rock N Roll Part 2 is used at a lot of sporting events in the US, Including the NBA, the NHL and the NFL and it is played during Superbowls!

It's played by the Denver Nuggets and the Denver Broncos as well as the Anaheim Ducks, The Dallas Stars, the Indianapolis Colts, The Miami Heat, the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers and the Florida Panthers all play it. The song was written by Gary Glitter and Mike Leander and Glitter still receives vast royalties from the song, till this day. I believe he even has songs on jukeboxes in America (not sure if its songs or just Rock n' Roll) which he receives royalties from. I think this track has featured in quite a few movies too, some obviously pre conviction, but i'm sure i've heard it in post conviction releases as well, which would see Glitter receive a performance royalty cheque!

Also Glitter still receives royalties from the sale of the Oasis album (Whats The Story?) Morning Glory as the opening track 'Hello' uses part of the Glitter song "Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again" in the music and the lyrics and as such the track is credited to Gallagher/Glitter/Leander. This is Oasis biggest selling album so Glitter will still receive a hefty royalty from this. I bought the album in 1995 and i still have my original, so i have no idea whether there has been a reissue with parts of the song removed, specifically the clear lyric steal "Hello, Hello, said its good to be back, it's good to be back". Though i've never heard it has. So Glitter will still be collecting some pretty lucrative royalties.

Re: Did Glitter destroy the PC service industry?

Post by jimslip »

Travelling on a long bus ride today, I thought that in spite of the fact that every house in the UK has some kind of computer, virtually all the service shops have all but disappeared. I think after Glitter was arrested because a PC World techie had nosed through his files, people realised the hazards of handing their PC's to some spotty nerd to "repair".

Having handed you PC over to them, it would appear the norm for them to feel they can open all your files, make notes of your banking details and browsing history and any other personal information that they may feel is useful to them even if it had absolutely nothing to do with the actual fault.

I reckon Glitter singlehandly wrecked the domestic PC service industry and caused a huge increase in sales of new PC's, as I expect, "Post Glitter", people smashed up their hard discs, junked their PC's and just bought a brand new one when theirs went wrong, rather than get it serviced!

Should not Gary Glitter be awarded the "Queen's Award to Industry" instead of being villified?!wink!

Gary Glitter was very unlucky to get caught. He went into the only branch of PC World where staff knew what a hard drive looks like...

What should worry Mac users is that the CEO of PC World, possibly the worst computer retailler ever created, has been head hunted by Apple in America! So expect the knowledgeable staff at the Apple Stores to be sacked and replaced with staff from mobile phone shops whose only mantra is, "Sell! Sell! Sell!"
