Did you hear the blocking the coastguard gave him? Now he sounded like the kind of bloke you'd want in charge.

" Is that clear? Listen Schettino, that you saved yourself from the sea, but I am going to ... really do something bad to you ... I am going to make you pay for this. Go on board, (expletive)!"

"And so what? You want to go home, Schettino? It is dark and you want to go home? Get on that prow of the boat using the pilot ladder and tell me what can be done, how many people there are and what their needs are. Now!"

We have need of you again, great king.

He tripped and ended up in lifeboat!

Post by Gusset Sniffer »

?The passengers were pouring onto the decks, taking the lifeboats by assault. I didn?t even have a life jacket because I had given it to one of the passengers. I was trying to get people to get into the boats in an orderly fashion. Suddenly, since the ship was at a 60 to 70 degree angle, I tripped and I ended up in one of the boats. That?s how I found myself there.? !laugh!

He said he got stuck in the life boat for an hour before it was lowered into the water off the coast of Giglio island.

Also with him was Dimitri Christidis, the Greek second in command of the Concordia and Silvia Coronica, the third officer, according to La Repubblica newspaper.

Useless twat!

OF COURSE no British Captain would leave the ship first ! Or he would
go down with his ship like the celebrated captain of the Titanic....
Your photo was funny Jim ! Thats Noel Coward playing the captain of
the "Torrin" in Lean`s "In Which We Serve". He is superbly upper-crust
in it and so well-spoken it begs for parody. Being wildly gay I suspect
Noel would have preferred to cosy up to some of those nice working-
class sailor boys than leave his ship !!
The recent disaster is what happens when you put Italians in charge !
No back bone. Prone to panic !

They found another two passengers on board - its been 4 days now and they were found alive. The rescuers went to take them to safety and passengers told em to feck off they were on all inclusive and the bar wasnt dry yet.....

The captain wasnt he called captain cunt by any chance ? What a knob - I hope that they take this guy and string him to the roof by his balls. His stupidity and ignorance cost quite a few thier lifes on what should have been a holiday. The sea wasnt even rough. I wonder how he feels now, given the consequences of his actions.

Since it was himt hat did it against company policy how will this affect the insurance of the people affected by it?

Just heard it referred to as the "Stan Laurel" defence, which seems quite apt.

Reminds me of that sketch Harry & Paul did of an MP apologising for something with his family at a photocall,

".......and that's how we both ended up naked, with my penis accidentally entering his bottom....."

All the same Mr Thring I would rather have Noel Coward or Jack Hawkins in charge of any cruise ship that I may happen to take to the high seas in!

I certainly do not want the likes of a typical Italian sea captain in charge of anything on my boat thanks very much! A little more navigating of the sea lanes and a little less navigating into the female passengers knickers may have avoided a disaster!

A typical Italian sea captain:
