In other words, the people that occupy these forums you talk of and contribute to them are giving the impression that's it's somehow "Uncool" to pay for porn. So if you admit to paying, you are mocked and you should be in some way ashamed. Supposedly, stealing porn is their way of protesting against, "The Man!". Except they are wrong. porn isn't run anymore by, "The Man" it's run and produced by ordinary people trying to make a living. It is the thieves of porn, who like to think of themselves as sort of heroic internet pirates, who are the tumour that is wrecking this industry.

It beggars belief that it is these people who have the cheek to complain about ISP restrictions and government legislation. They readily comment on models, movies, websites etc etc when they have absolutely no right to comment on anything whatsoever. It's a bit like stealing a washing machine from John Lewis and phoning them up to complain that it doesn't wash properly!Quite rightly they'd tell you to, "Piss off!"

There will be a day when it is these people that are held as the pariahs on these sort of forums, but by the time that day comes it will be too late!

There are also many involved on the production side who think they shouldn't have to pay for anything either, which is also driving standards and quality down.

We have need of you again, great king.

I think the closest this business has to a recognisable voice is representatives of AITA who put themselves out there on shows like Hard Talk and the BBC and Anna Span who engages in university debates on the topic etc

Anti porn campaigners seem to be more prominent like Jacqui Smith and Gail Dines for their exposure in te media but the people that bring about change know where to go to and whom to engage with in dialogue if need be.

I agree that porn is largely the architect of its own demise but while everyone sits around in it moaning about how bad things are the proverbial saying that "this problem is not gonna fix itself" is always going to remain true

to be honest i couldn't give a flying fuck whether they think i'm cool or not - i'll buy legitimate dvd's until I either can't afford them or the shops which are relatively nearby close. I've never downloaded any cd's or mainstream movies either so i would guess i'm in a very small club. In fact the only thing i do download is concerts by artists who i have most of their official stuff anyway and since those types of downloads have taken bootlegging out of the bootleggers hands and given it to the fans by fans for free the record industry should be jumping for joy - if you're not spending money on bootlegged gigs then you have more cash to spend on new music. Unfortunately this scenario doesn't work for the porn industry. If everyone who wants porn downloads it illegally then what you'll get is firstly the girls being paid less per scene, then you'll get a decrease in the quality of the girls who are willing to participate and then you'll probably also get an increase in the more misogynistic and violent end of the market where there will be a perception that money can still be made since that (repulsive material to most) will not be widely available.

Well two points on that Peter.

Count me in as one of those. Why on earth would I want to buy something that I shot ? Or indeed should I. just because I don't technically own it. Dreadful state of affairs if the owner of that material won't give me a copy surely !!

Pluse, there's hardly anybody left on the production now so your argument just has no basis at all. The impact on sales would only effect low to no sales ! Although actually it might these days coz nothing sells much at all anymore !

I was more thinking about producers that want models, locations, crew, post work, etc for free, or share, or collaboration, or whatever jam tomorrow bull they come out with to avoid parting with any cash.

You must know that, how many times have people been interested in using you until they find out you want a fair days pay, then you never hear anything else?

Well I certainly buy porn and am quite happy to do so. I'm one of the people JimSlip refers to who doesn't see much point in ploughing through tube sites for hours when I can get what I want quite easily by paying a reasonable sum for it. Anyway the last time I looked for something on tube sites and eventually found it, well it turned out to be only half the scene anyway, so that was time wasted really. !idontbelieveit!

Dave if you've been paid to shoot something on behalf of a producer there's nothing, "Technical" about it at all, you have absolutely no rights whatsoever to that material in any way, shape or form and if the producer quite rightly does not wish, or doesn't have the time to start knocking out free copies for all and sundry, well that's life!

The producer is the guy or gal who put his hand in his pocket and took the risk. The producer is the one who loses sleep at night. The crew grab their wonga and sit having a pint in the pub chatting and laughing about whatever they've just shot. The producer will be the one who'll take the fall or maybe make some profit. Who knows?

But if he wants to put all his shoot tapes in a box and throw it all in the sea, then that's his choice and no one elses.
