Remakes/ Reboots et al
Re: Remakes/ Reboots et al
Think Padilha did 'Elite Squad' which is well worth watching.

JBA, you sound like a movie fan/ film geek who knows what he is talking about. I agree with all youve said bar not likeing Spidey 3. I loved it! Wasnt sure about Tobey at first but grew to like him loads as he eschews Peter Parkers traits
Yeah I know what you mean by RoboCop and I'm hoping they go with the original with elements of the 2nd and do not incorporate any appeal to children from the 3rd one which was a complete embarrassment. Flying Robo? Dont even go there when the recent Iron Man does it so well
This reminds me of the aproach to the Planet Of The Apes series. The 3rd one was more of a comedy and was so bad they may as well have killed it by adding a laugh track

I dont know what I'm talking about really. I'm just a bit of a comic book geek and I watched Robocop 1 and 2 at a young age.
It does seem to be a theme though - 3rd movie has too much humour (Terminator 3, JP3)
The thing I find with Spidey 3 is that the whole Venom transformation happens 15 mins from the end and goes out in a whimper with no hope of coming back for a Spidey 4. (Which is how I would have done it)
Actually for reboots that improved on the originals - Batman Begins? Admittedly its massively overshadowed by The Dark Knight, but still better than at least Returns, Forever and and Robin, maybe even Batman (1989).

The second Mutiny on the Bounty with Trevor Howard was the best of the 3 I think, though Anthony Hopkins was extremely good in the 3rd one.
As for Yippees, I think Clint is the best cowboy of all.

I got to agree with you about Squint Eastwood. Thought many would crucify us for not saying John Wayne

Fuck that, Cleavon Little. Sheriff Bart got more pussy.
I just tried watching Superman returns again tonight and Jesus Christ its still an overlong doucheflick.
Spiderman three had too much going on, too many villians which meant they all came off as hurried. They should have done Harry as the Hob Goblin then did a movie with Venom.
The spidey reboot is totally emo. The trailer might as well have Peter Parker cutting. I reckon it`ll flop, sony are greedy assholes and should have let Raimi alone to do his thing.

Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.
In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

Re: Remakes/ Reboots et al
I finally got around to watching the 2008 remake of ?The Day the Earth Stood Still? last night and wished I hadn?t made the effort.
The re-make starred Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connolly.
John Cleese was in it as well for about five minutes. I think it was one of those films he paid to fund his divorce from his fifth(?) wife. He was crap.
Kathy Bates was rubbish as well.
Jenny was nice to look at but I wish she would stick to parts which required her to take her clothes off. I?m thinking of ?The Hot Spot? for instance.
Granted the special effects in the 2008 re-make were a million times better than the 1951 original, but I still know which version I would prefer to see again.
The story, direction, characterisation, etc, etc. etc was a hundred times better in the 1951 version.
Another re-make where I came away thinking ?why did they bother??

What about The Ladykillers on stage i cant inagine that saw the poster after changing buses in Hamstead.
Re: Remakes/ Reboots et al
The Yanks made a re-make of that a couple of years ago.
It starred Tom Hanks.
It was crap.
It had to be didn't it.
Did anyone think the re-make of The Ladykillers could be any better than the original?

'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' is out imminently if not already.
