How Is Free Online Porn Actually Profitable?

Post by Deano! »

Of course I'm talking about the legitimate sites that give away free samples. Do they survive through all those annoying ads you're meant to click on? Or do they generate enough pay subscriptions?

I've never subscribed because I'm suspicious that once you've seen their free samples, you've seen their best material. Plus, they make you buy a full months sub at a rather heavy price. I wonder if one day they will use a central payment collecting service where you simply pay for what you download through a sort of Pay-Pal service who collect the fees on behalf of the sites.

I honestly dont know how people think $25-$30 (the average price of a months membership) is 'heavy'.
That works out to about ?15-?20 for possibly hundreds of scenes and a few extras at some sites.
A DVD will be around the same price and you'll get 5-6 scenes.
God knows what mags cost (are they still going?) but i'm guessing at least ?5.

It's just that there seem to be 900 million sites around. A lot of them must be duds. At least with DVDs and magazines, they cost a bit to produce - so you'd guess they'd at least put some effort in making you want to come back for more.

Thats why its called the world wide web isnt it and yes i'm sure many of them are duds?
If your using that analogy, then theres millions of homes/cars and many are duds too just like everything in life in mass.

Theres lots of DVDs as well - many duds as well. That same content is often on a website too.
What makes you think dvds/mags cost more than mags?
Printed media is old technolgy so if anything theres less content/more ads for your money to cover their overheads.

I think the idea of giving away free porn ie a short clip from a scene is to bring traffic you didnt have to your site in the hope that if they like what you have then sign up then yes it is profitable.

It could just be a pic with your site watermarked on it or a 30 second clip (with your url on). Those who dont sign up may simply not like it or wouldnt have paid for it anyway but if you just get a few window shoppers then its money you have gained that you wouldnt have had otherwise.

Depends what you consider profit. I'd consider that a residual income but get a lot of those then its worth while

A free sample is like an advert for the whole "Package" so I suppose they hope that having seen the sample, you join the website.

At least you get to see a sample, unlike in a shop selling DVD's you have no idea whether the pics on the box correspond to the film inside. On a site like mine you have literally hundreds of scenes and 10's thousands of pic and if you like the front page stuff, it's pretty likely you'll like what's inside.

I remember years ago buying VHS porn tapes and being disappointed again and again. Great box, crap film. In fact I gave up buying them in the end. Pay for sites are a much better deal, in my opinion.

I'm starting to see your point. I bought Paul Simon's 'Graceland' album back in the mid eighties on the strength of the critics rave reviews and the one single from it that was actually good. I'm still angry about wasting the $15!

This used to piss me off no end. I hated the ones where the cover shot featured one of the stars wearing, say, tiny ripped and shredded denim hot-pants and a singlet that left half her tits exposed, while the actual video had the same girl on the same set as the cover pic but wearing knee-length shorts and a baggy jumper. I used to wonder where the sexy outfit went. They'd probably say it was too revealing and inappropriate for their cock-sucking extravaganza.

I can see the point. There's a use for porn and we all know what it is.

For knocking one out, how long do you need, and is it worth paying a monthly subscription for what you can find for nowt?
