Pippa Middleton and the PR machine...

Post by max_tranmere »

Kate Middleton's sister has been appearing quite a lot in newspapers in the last few days. She is a total nobody but is already on her way to being famous.

The press today says there is 'speculation' that she might be Kate's bridesmaid. Really? Surely this will either be announced or nothing said about it at all. It is quite clear that a PR operation is underway and they are trying to establish her as a public figure. Next there will be regular shots of her arriving and leaving restaurants all over the press, stories in the press about all the work she is doing to save Tigers in India (or something) and about her new novel (even though she wont have written a word of it and only agreed to 'be' a 'writer' after her PR man said it would help launch her name even further).

This sort of thing personally makes me sick. Total nobody's becoming prominent, as she will become, because of a family connection and a cleverly organised PR campaign where people behind the scenes pull strings in newspaper editor's offices. Are these people so egotistical and arrogant that they think the world will be worse off if they are not prominet within it?

I say toodle-pip Pippa! You are a nobody and you deserve to remain one!

This whole cult of celebrity is promoted by the media and I'm sure fully endorsed by politicians to keep people's attention away from what is really going on. It's very sad that so many people live their lives through the rich and famous rather than developing themselves. Best thing to do is ignore these people.

The plural for nobody is nobodies. What you need is a ghost writer.

I read the London Evening Standard on the way home from work today and noticed there are photos of Pippa ice-skating at Somerset House in London. Its interesting how the cameras just 'happened to be there'.

The PR team will do a few more weeks of this kind of thing. In newspapers and magazines we will see Pippa shopping in Harrods, arrriving at a few premieres, and watching polo matches. They will then organise a few weeks of 'girl next door' Pippa: shots of her in jeans picking up her dry-cleaning, queing at a petrol station, and walking along London streets.

After that Pippa will start appearing on daytime chat-shows talking about "what it's like to be Kate's sister" but what she really means is "look at me, I have a huge ego and I wanna be famous!".

Go away Pippa. No one is interested in you or your huge ego!

Interesting how? It was the opening night of an outdoor ice-rink, with other celebs there like Trinny Woodall, Paloma Faith, Donna Air and Holly Valance. I'd say that it's expected that there were a few press photogs around - but hardly interesting...unless you're into that kind of thing.

Ahhh, I'll miss all that.....not being the slightest bit interested 'n all. Oh, and it's 'queueing'. Can't say I didn't advise you about that ghost-writer.

I think the market will decide how interested people are. Of course, you're not interested and neither am I. I'm more interested in how you display your 'uninterestedness'.

So Pippa Middleton is a 'celeb' then? She isn't, but her PR machine are trying to make her one - and I think they are suceeding.

I never argued for or against her 'celeb' status. You mentioned the press just 'happening to be there', and I tried to point out why they may have turned up anyway, Pippa or no Pippa.

Did you say HOLLY VALANCE??!!! I've just cracked a fat. I don't care if she's now chunky. She's currently getting poked by some multi-millionaire property developer with ears like a wing-nut. And she loves him for his "personality".

Am I jealous of the stupid pratt just because he probably wakes up on his 50 million pound yacht with Holly's soft, wet mouth slobbering all over his cock and balls.? Nah. She'll soon get dumped and then I have her. After all, there's only so many men in the world for her to work through before it's my turn!

Phwooorr...look at her....CRASH
